it's pretty simple stuff...... if you have a place to do it.... get yourself a cherry picker, some tools, and a haynes manual..... if/when you run into issues, just call your uncle

Broken Engine :( - falnfenix, maybe you can help

I'm posting this for my friend who's got a 91 corolla:

I have a 91 Corolla with what Pat Goss diagnosed as a bent connecting rod. Pat Goss wanted to put in a replacement engine. But at thier prices it would cost more than the car is worth. My uncle, who is a master mechanic, suggests that I try and find a used engine, or a cheaper reconditioned one on ebay, and find someone who would be willing to do a quick and dirty swap. By quick and dirty I mean just switching the engines without changing all the hoses and spark plugs, etc... I live in PG county MD. Can anyone suggest an inexpensive neighborhood type mechanic/ gearhead who could do the work... or if any of you fit that discription what might a ballpark labor cost be?
