there have been a few threads on the aerodynamic designs.

downforce, less drag, and increased air for the engine and intercoolers are what they are designed for.

    bodykit actually aerodynamic

upon further inspection of my bomex kit i noticed certain things that actually makes it seem aerodynamic the three slots on the front bumper for one look like they dispel air to the side and away from the car and the vent on the sideskirts also appear to deflect air from the car. I know 90% of bodykits are purely for show could this one actually have a function?

maybe i dunno i know for sure VeilSide kits actually serve a purpose because there windtunnel tested. My friend has one on his Supra and yeah its lighter it provides a larger space for the intercooler. and special vents

go run that shit through the windtunnel and you'll find out, but i doubt it'll help you any..they're cheap 500 dollar fiberglass pieces crap that probably aren't meant to serve areodynamic purpose, hell..most of them dont even have good fitment

bomex fits allright its not as good as oem ,but its allright, my bumper got hit so i figured might as well get a kit now. but if you actually take a look at that kit they sure "tried" to make it aerodynamic

Ya it's also the bomex kit that originally came originally from a bomex kit for a nissan 240sx or sylvia which was grafted to the corolla bumper which is how we got it.

well arent the original jdm bomex kits aerodynamically designed? would that mean ours is aswell, fast rolla have you noticed a difference

never really thought of seeing if it made a difference in handling when I got it. I've been so used to it that I can't really tell. Unless I put on my stock ones I will be able to tell. The only difference I noticed is that my car scrapes more often hehe.

maybe im crazy or sumthin but i think i can actually hear the three slots on the front bumper parting the air, maybe im crazy tho, who knows

i dont think its aerodynamic......mainly because of those three large slots in the front......i think the air that enters under there would get trapped in the engine bay area and just circulate instead of getting forced to the side or flowing straight under the car. Plus, if it is getting in the engine bay then im sure that the firewall is a factor if the air is gonna hit that....also....im not sure but i think when FastRolla96 showed me his kit, the three slots in the middle of the kit....well on the bottom of each slot....the kit seemed to have been angled upwards and that would in turn make the air go upwards once again into the engine bay.....but thats just my theory.

do lower body panels count as lowering your center of gravity or do you actually have to lower the car

I can see your point on how they could be aerodynamic. The front has more openings and swooping designs which could help reduce wind resistance. And the rear bumper has those things that looks like defusers which could spead up the air passing through it. Also the whole kit make the car lower to which helps in aerodynamic. The only way it would make a difference though is when your driving fast like on the highway.

my bomex has an opening on the middle and three slots on the sides pointed outwards
im thinking as the air goes in the middle it goes out the slots towards the skirts maybe? and the skirts themselves have vents, and as fastrolla says the rear bumper has diffuser like things which would easier release any air that stays under the car

i think, im no enginner, but it makes sense to me

i would say that by puting a body kit more air is going up and over the car rather than under it which would push the car down and keep it more stable at high speeds. if you want more of an arodynamical front bumper maybe try some of those wind splitters you put under the front of your bumper.. i have no idea if the work ive jsut seen them around the web and it looks like they would

I can see where you get this idea but definately don't buy a body kit just for aerodynamic purposes. It's totally for looks and I sincerely doubt that it helps performance at all. A body kit does not lower the center of gravity, think about it, 2300lbs is still in the same place, you just have some flimsy fiberglass closer to the ground.

air can pass through body kits better as they more opening but aerodynamically it really doesnt do much. its not really changing any contours of the car.
