for JUST external and doorjambs, if you shop around it could be around $1500-$1800. if you want the engine bay as well, then it'll be much higher.

A shop around here quoted about 5k for a full color, three stage paint. Does that sound TOO MUCH? I've always thought it would be under/around 3k.

Hey if you have the time painting is not really that hard.

I just purchased a 31 gallon compressor, HVLP spray gun, 3 quarts of the cool looking mazda3 Sport blue, 1 gallon of clear coat, 1 gallon of eching primer, 1 gallon high build sealer, a variable speed polisher, and all the little things like rubbing compound sandpaper, reducer for a grand total of $800.00 US.

Now all I need to do it build my paint booth out of 2 x 4's and 3 mil plastic and im ready to start shooting paint.

Do a bit of reading and studying from a local library, and I'm sure you could do it as long as your patient, thats the biggest key to auto painting. As well get something that you can practice on for a bit. I was lucky cause i've been able to do 2 full size trailers 6' x 14' long to practice.

Anyway just my input if you want to save a budle of money. However, be warned that there is a reason that they charge so much its called labour. Be prepared to spend countless nights in the preparations stage. For every 1 hour of painting there is like 10 of prep work.
