Its hard to clog a cat unless you have some foreign debris flying out of your motor which is already not good. The cat could be prematurely worn out. It can only catalyze so much.

I don't think it's your cat being blocked. When I installed the Forza header I developed a huge nasty exhaust leak where the header connects to the cat. The stock gasket there fell out and literally disintegrated. I noticed the exhaust sound coming from that area right from the front of the car and not much from the muffler. I went out and bought some Permatex Form-a-gasket high temperature silicone sealant and resealed the connection. That fixed my leak and now its normal. However now I have a nasty vibration making noise when I'm at idle so I might need more sealant for cushion for the metal on metal contact.

Your cat looks pretty bad to me.
What did the mechanic suggest to you? change the cat?

Well for your exhaust leak, form-a-gasket works wonders.

yeah i had the car checked out because i had the p0420 code and the mechanic said my cat was bad.. i ran nitrous and blew my engine so i wouldnt be suprised if it is.. i do have an exhaust leak where the o2 sensor is on the manifold so im going to try and fix that and see what kind of a difference it makes

He said possibly a bad cat. I think it looks bad too. My car also has hardly any power like the exhaust is getting caught in the manifold.

Well I took it to Toyota today and they replaced the cat under warranty. The car runs great now. All the lost power has returned and the muffler sounds good. Definitely a huge difference.

No, I assume it had something to do with the nitrous and engine burning oil which ofcourse I didn't mention to them.

Nitrous? and burning oil? That kinda leads me to believe that you fried your piston rings. Actually, thats pretty much almost certain. How big a shot do you have? Is it nice? hehe

Yeah my piston rings were more than certainly fried. The spark plugs melted too. I have another engine now so I'm resistant to put the nitrous back on after what happened to the other engine. I'm going to take the old engine apart to see how much damage was done. It was nice while it lasted though. Nice bit of burning rubber on takeoff.
