    Black Stuff In My Intake?

I just cut my cai and made it into a sri, When i took out the pipe, i saw a black deposit in it that looked like and fett like soot. It was quite a lot but it was all close to the MAF. Any idea what it is?

When I received my new Injen CAI, it had a fair amount of black cutting and welding sooty aluminum residue inside, especially around the MAF. I had cleaned it before installing it...

no, i checked it before i installed it and it was clean. The oil makes alot of sense tho. I was worried that my filter was sucking in dirt. I bought a injen cai and it came with a blue filter, but i ve seen it come with a red filter and a different shape than the one i have. Anyone who bought a injen, what did ur filter look like? thanks alot

Mine came with the blue filter... I've replaced it with a UNI pod foam filter I use with Maxima's sticky and stable synthetic 'Fab 1' filter oil for ultimate fine dust protection.
