    Best Mufflers?

Hey I want to mod my Corolla with the best exhaust but I dont know which one packs the most power and a well balanced tone should i get a cat-back,universal muffler or a custom made one with a branded muffler, big resonator and a new stainless steel catalytic converter.

What is the difference between stainless steel and carbon fiber mufflers?
also what brand should I get and I dont want a muffler over $500

I Love my TRD muffler. It's real mellow, and still sounds clean after being revved up.

the Best muffler is built to your specs and how much you want to spend. For a budget setup you should get a custom made one from a muffler shop.

2 1/4 inch piping is a good way to start and as for the rear section just get what style you like, canister, oval, etc... A straight through flow would work the best you can also pick a chambered muffler but that wont flow as good as a straight through flow but a chambered is more quiet.

As for sound it all depends on the setup. using a resonator will tone it down and there are different size resonators. So 2 1/4 piping with a real long resonator and a straight flow rear end muffler is what i would recomend.

and btw muffler shops almost all do crush bent piping. if you have the money buy mandrel bends and have a muffler shop cut them and weld them to make you one nice catback!

I've got a custom full catback system 2.5" using a magnaflow muffler. I had a magnaflow resonator installed too to tone it down a bit and get rid of that annoying ricy pop. Oh, my place does mandrel bending, they got the machine and do it on the spot. Ran me about 300 for the piping and 200 for the muffler and tip. It seems a lika diff car when its all in!!
