Best Catback Exhaust Pipe Diameter for 01-02

Could any of you help out on waht would be the best dia. for a custom exhaust piping on a 01/02 corolla. I've hear to big of a pipe will make u loose lowend torque.

What would be a good dia. for best performance gain and little or no loss on torque and what not.

i did a 2.25 and a high flow res. and i lost a lot of low end...

u should prob go with a stock res, and a 2.25 pipe... or high flow res. and a 2 inch pipin...

unless u want to do turbo... then 2.5 to 3 inch is good.

Stock pipe is 1 7/8". Any more than 2 1/4 and youll lose your low end. You'll lose it anyway if you dont have at least some form of intake. Do intake first before exhaust.

Ive got a "custom"(homemade from 2 ebay celica intakes) w/ a Ractive filter, Magnaflow cat, stock res, cheap ebay dual-tube muffler, and nothing bigger than 2 1/4 and my tq is good- I also have Unorth. pulleys and Celica TB. So unless youre F/I, then dont go too big, or just do an axle-back first and catback&highflow cat later when you need it- if you unbalance that air flow youll get alot of either low or high end. Id go intake side first if $ is an issue, but thats my peference

2-1/4. Anything above that and you effect the velocity of the exhaust gas that it hurts you in the low end since it cools down and gets denser before making it out the back.
