optimas are dry cell deep cycle batteries. they don't leak cuz they are dry. you can mount them anywhere at any orientation. they can be completely discharged and recharged MANY MANY MANY MANY MANY times. they also provide more cca, or cold cranking amps. they will hold a constant voltage longer as well, so you have less chance of dimmage.

    battery questions

Are some batteries better than others? Has anybody gotten a better one? How does upgrading them work... do you have to change all your wires?

unless you have a massive stereo system, or have tons of leds, or streetglow lights, or anything thats NOT oem, suckin in more juice, then you might wanna consider upgrading.

yea wut "AFaceInTheCrowd" said... i second that...

plus... if u are able to keep ur voltage above 14 volts... not like 12 something or 13 something... ull notice ur car being more responsive... thats just my experience...

u guys got me interested now...where do we get these batteries, how much do they run. and since i hace some strobes and alot of neons in my car...how do i install an aux battery? so that it charges when the car is on, but when my shit is on, it doesnt drain from the battery under the hood?

and does the re-grounding of wires really make that much of a difference?

is this one of those "mental" boosts, or do you "REALLY" feel a difference- examples of "mental" boosts 1. new oil 2. new tranny fluid 3. coolant flush 4. putting stickers on the car 5. getting a fart can ex...

i would recommend upgrading the battery to anyone. like sean said, as long as you can keep the voltage up at 14.4(nominal automotive voltage), you will feel the car be more responsive. the reason is that the spark energy will be consistant.

if you want to upgrade to an optima drycell, get the redtop for under the hood. it's built to be a primary starting battery. the yellow top is a deep cycle, meaning is main purpose is to be drained and recharged. the red top is more suited for a car with only one battery. if you have 2, get the red for under the hood and the yellow for the aux. battery.

hmm.... mental boost eh?

dats real strange... cuz when i switched over to syn. tranny fluid... i noticed a difference.... smoother shifts and stuff...

syn. motor oil... better gas mileage...

coolant flush? i havent done that yet...

but trust me... keep ur voltage above 14... before 15 volts... and ull notice a difference... car wont be that "sluggish"...

if u dont believe me... install some ground wires... and ull understand wut im sayin...

im actually makin a set for someones bday... so let me know if u want a set...

4ga oxygen free, high strand cable... with gold plated connectors...

much much cheaper then buyin the hyper grounds system...

    i don't have a redtop... yet. i want a redtop. i'm a poor college kid.

skyace - as long as your not drawing massive amperage, you don't need an aux. battery. a single redtop under the hood will be more than sufficient. re-grounding makes the current flow smoother. i've got a 2awg battery ground... increased idle voltage by 2. alternator won't work as hard. if at anytime your voltage dips below 12.4, you will start draining the battery. then your alternator has to charge it.

I may be in the market for one, or try to rig up my own grounding kit-- my headlights dim noticeably when I roll the windows up and down, even at highway speeds.
