BAR get a 'taste of Honda'

On Monday, members of BAR Honda visited the Honda Institute – Honda (UK)'s industry-leading training facility.

The 'Taste of Honda' day was set up by Honda to help the F1 team gain a better understanding of the history, philosophy and product range of the Japanese company. Joining the group were Young Drivers Adam Carroll and James Rossiter, as well as Chief Executive Officer Nick Fry.


“Since Honda acquired a 45% stake in the team at the beginning of this year, we have been finding ways to work even closer with our Honda colleagues," said Fry. "The Honda Institute is the perfect place for us to learn more about Honda and I’m sure that what will come out of this will be greater communication and understanding throughout the team."


Following a short talk describing company founder Soichiro Honda's initial dreams and the huge success that followed, the BAR Honda guests were shown around the state-of-the-art Honda Institute, where engineers receive the top-level hands-on training that has set a new European benchmark. The group then got the chance to try out some of Honda's numerous class-leading products, from water pumps to All Terrain Vehicles, and ride-on lawnmowers to Honda-powered inflatables.
