    Atom's are the bomb!

If I ever have enough money laying around I'm going to import me one of these

I love this car and everything about it, have any of you ever seen that Top Gear episode where Jeremy Clarkson's face is getting smashed driving this thing? It's awesome! Last night I found it in Project Gothem Racing 3 on the XBOX 360 and went up against some Ferarri's and smoked them. The car is amazing, I wonder if it could be made street legal for driving on a sunny day because OMG that would rock.

    Found the video!!!

Rumor has it that the US bound version is GM powered:

    http://www.autoblog.com/2005/12/30/u-s-version-of-ariel-atom-using-ecotecs/

According to the Ariel Motor Co website: Engine choices are N/A GM Ecotec to S/C Ecotec, N/A Honda to S/C Honda (looks like a K20). Prices are from $33,300 to $46,500.

    (Their most expensive package)
    GM Ecotec 2.0 Liter 300hp 250 ft/lbs Supercharged
    2.0L Supercharged Engine

    DOHC with Sequential Fuel Injection
Bore is 86.00 mm and Stroke 86.00 mm with 9.5:1 compression ratio
    300 Horsepower and 250 lb-ft of Torque

    Liquid Intercooler
    Dry Sump package

    CHOICES:

    GM Drivetrain
    GM Ecotec 2.2 Liter 140hp 150ft/lbs (Avail Q3 2006) $33,299.00
    GM Ecotec 2.0 Liter 205hp 200 ft/lbs Supercharged $38,790.00
    GM Ecotec 2.0 Liter 230hp 205ft/lbs Supercharged $39,950.00
    GM Ecotec 2.0 Liter 245hp 215 ft/lbs Supercharged $41,110.00
    GM Ecotec 2.0 Liter 300hp 250 ft/lbs Supercharged $46,500.00

    Honda Drivetrain
    Honda iVTEC 2.0 Liter 210hp 115 ft/lbs $37,140.00
    Honda iVTEC 2.0 Liter 245hp 143ft/lbs Hondata ECU $39,140.00
    Honda VTEC 2.0 Liter 300hp 163ft/lbs Supercharged $43,640.00

Cool looking car - looks like it stepped right off the track and onto the road after pulling its wings off.
    http://www.arielmotor.co.uk/04/latest_01_04/web_two_cars.jpg

I've read somewhere that so far - about 100 cars have been sold in the US (rolling chassis variants). Most in California, Texas, and Washington. Now I know what I want on my Christmas list - it was the Lotus Elise roadster - but this bumped that one down a few notches. Only wish that you can register this car (now only set as track use) - but some states can get around that. According to their info packet - supposedly a demo car available in Ashland, Oregon. They are also planning to tour the US to demo the car.

I think in that episode were they ran the thing against a CBR600 F4I was a little low...they should have at least run it against a GSXR, a Honda RR, an R6 or a ZX-6R.

I'd also like to see how it compares to a 1000. :D

The Atom is 0 - 60 in 2.9 seconds or something to that degree? Can a motorcycle even do that without popping a wheely and throwing you off the back? I'm curious.

I'd take it with the genuine Honda K20 motor, the ecotech is a bastardized version of it. But seriously for 40K i'd rock a Elise. I do like how you can hit every apex perfectly tho.

Those prices are absolutely ludicrous! My shifter kart can hit 60 in 4 seconds...for a sixth of the price..hehe, but the power to weight ratio IS pretty impressive

i believe the honda type-r supercharged motor version can do 0-60 in like 2.x sec if you can shift fast enough

the one in WA was right around $50,000
