Arg! I recieved a speeding ticket while parked in my driveway...

I was heading back to the 'rents after having an extremely flustered day.
I was hungry because I was defrosting some steak to eat and wasn't planning on going out, but I needed to replace my video card so I could get some work done (read below). I get hypoglycemic when I don't eat, so I was starting to get into a bit a daze in the last few minutes of my drive there, so I had no idea I was even speeding. I'm just annoyed because I consider myself a very safe driver who always uses his turn signals and stops at stop signs even if it's deserted out. If I do speed, it's within reason and usually late at night on the highway when no one else it on, and even then, I don't go all out.

    *cut from my LiveJournal*

    1. Starting at 1 AM in the morning, a disk utility program fucks up my registry, effectly making my computer useless (I spend the day at work fixing it).

    2. A package marked by UPS as being on time for delivery yesterday never shows up and is now marked as blank in terms of delivery date.

    3. I'm craving a cigarette all day because of shit going on, but it's not in my budget to buy a pack because I just payed rent and I have bills to pay at the end of the week.

    4. The neighborhood kids are playing ball outside around the cars (which there was a notice sent out to the parents asking them to prevent their kids from doing that) when they accidently hit my car and set off my alarm. Fortunately, there was no damage that I could find.

    5. My fucking ATI All-In-Wonder 9600 video card fries on me around the same time my car alarm goes off.

    6. While driving home to borrow money to get a new video card so that I'll be able to use my computer to get work done, I fucking get pulled over in my driveway by a cop sitting in front of my house and get a $140, 2 pt. speeding ticket. God fucking damn it. I never speed on my parents street, but I was so flustered as well as dazed because I hadn't had time to eat yet that I didn't even realize how fast I was going. He said I was doing 50, I still believe I was only going 40.

Yikes! WHat was the speed limit on the street?

You might be able to say that it was a medical necessity to speed.. or even go to traffic school to get it waived...

Holly shit dude. Yeah, i agree your a safe driver having been riding with you before. Just go to traffic school to get no points and just pay about same price. Or is there any way to fight it?

Im surprised you didnt get a ticket for not stopping instead of speeding. I mean the cop had to ask you if you knew what stop meant. LoL. You know what im talking about vamp, i just gotta throw that in there. Not trying to make ya mad, just trying to lighten your mood.

But seriously, just go to traffic school or fight it if you can.

Yeah, talk about luck... bad luck. I can't believe I pulled over for a speed trap set up in front of my own house. The speed limit is 25, and I usually do 35 because it's a main road and 25 is ridiculously slow to travel on there. I'm sure that anyone who has tried driving down my road would agree. And to tops things off, my keyboard that I ordered (the package that went MIA yesterday) showed up today, but it was defective. Sigh. Add that to my SATA HD that showed up defective last week.

Do you have a clean record? If so, take it to court with Guilty with explanation and youll prob get PBJ.

I have 1 speeding ticket on my record (10 years of driving) and funny enough, I got it on my street as well, which is definitely incentive for me to not speed on my street. My first ticket I got because I was busy pointing out some sights to someone who was visiting and didn't slow the car when coming down a hill. I have peanut butter n jelly on that one, which happened a couple of years ago.

Go to a ticket clinic. There's lawyers that you pay about $70 that deal with exactly these types of cases. They go to court for you, and if the officer that issued the ticket doesn't show up, the ticket is cleared and no point will be put on your record. If teh officer does show up, you might have to go to traffic school to get the point off or pay court fees.

there should be a rule - if a cop is parked in front of yur property, he owes you 10% of the speeding tickets he passes out and you cannot be fined since you're allowing him to be parked in front of your house...

    *shrug*

i tell ya what i'd do tho Der... --hehe--

I'd call the cops after he gave me the ticket, as long as he stayed there, and report a suspicious vehicle in front of my house... LOL

about your computer...to save you alot , i mean alot of time and a huge headache. reformat your computer and load all your software and documents as normal. this way you will have a fresh system with your files also.
now, go and get yourself a copy of Norton Ghost.
make an image of your harddrive onto either another harddrive or dvd, if it will fit.

then, when you system screws up again, you can just load that image back onto that harddrive. it takes me 7 mins to reload my winxp pro computer with all my apps and files. totally saves me a ton of time
it's great if your upgrading your system harddrive also...and you don't want to reformat the new one and install everything. you can just load your image onto it and you'll be back set to whatever the image was.
    try it out

Actually, I'm trying out Western Digital Lifeguard tools. It took 12 hours (250GB), but it managed to setup the new drive and copy over the boot partition. I have to power down and set up the SATA as the boot drive to test it out when I get home from work.
