Toyotanation.com has 5 or 6 members who have Corolla XRS. I have driven it myself and I really liked it If you are looking for actual owner feedback then address it to Hash, rolla-xrs, blckrolla etc. on Toyota nation or read the car and driver review below.

I have an XRS, Impulse Red, I absolutly love the car, (I'm coming out of an 85 Mr2, and a 95 Corolla). it's suprisingly fast, throughout the powerband, and handles better than my old corolla with H&Rs.

After putting the weather correction factor, 0-60 would still be around 7 secs and the quarter mile will be in the mid 15 seconds. Although, some slight modifications to the car will make it even faster.

From what I've read, and apparently from what JCturbo just said, the power in the Rolla XRS is alot less peaky than in the Celica GTS. You still have to rev the s*** out of it, but to a lesser degree than in the Celica, so the car is easier to drive around town.

XRS has second generation 2ZZ engine, which has been improved a lot over the first generation found in Celica. Corolla XRS achieves peak torque (127 foot pounds) at 4400 RPM, whereas Celica using the first generation achieves almost the same peak torque (130 foot pounds) over 2000 rpms later at 6800 RPM. So, Corolla has respectable level of torque to drive around the city without revving it. In the whole process, it lost 10 HP at the top. Dyno tests of the first generation (180HP) and second generation(170HP) has proven that the performance is almost the same along the curve since whatever the 2nd generation lost in HP made it gain in mid range torque.
Corolla XRS is a bit faster than the Celica GT-S to 60 mph stock because of more mid range torque, but slightly slower (15.3 sec GT-S and mid-15 for XRS) to the quarter mile. Your insurance would be thousands less per year than a Celica GT-S and XRS is almost $10K cheaper than the GT-S. Matrix XRS is a lot slower than both of these because of 250 lbs heavier curb weight.

No, XRS will have it's own intake. The Matrix XRS and Celica GT-S intakes do not fit the Corolla XRS. TRD is making one. Although, I heard some people have been able to use the Injen CAI with the Corolla S and XRS.

Shouldn't the Apexi unit for the Celica GTS work?
