Anyone familiar with the alpine cda 9815??

I'm having problems with it getting to sound right. The bass is pretty flat for a high-end deck and the sound is really sharp it hurts my ears if i put it past 10. I read through the manual and there isn't any bass and treble settings on this deck that I could find. Has anybody ever had experience with this deck and can help me out?

The 9815 doesn't have conventional bass and treble controls. It has a built in equalizer. Sounds to me like it needs adjusting. See page 14 of your owners manual.

Yeah, I've fiddled around with the EQ mode but am yet to find the sound that even meets stock. I know next to nothing about audio stuff, maybe somebody could help me and break down what frequency, width, and level settings result to in the kind of sound it makes.

For a start, select the "FLAT" preset EQ settings. That should sound OK. If not, try exchanging the deck for another one. It may be defective. What speakers are you using?

I currently have it set at flat, I don't think it is defective it's just that I cannot get it set right. I am using stock speakers.

Stock speakers? The reason you don't have any bass is that the stock speakers aren't good with bass. The stock head unit has some built in equalization to compensate for the poor speaker response. Replace the stock speakers and you'll get a big improvement. You can try boosting equalizer response at about 60 to 80 Hz and see if that helps.

Setting it at 80 Hz helped out alot. Sounds pretty decent now, thanks.
