    anybody do @home distributed computing?

    like seti@home , folding@home, rosetta@home?

it's a bunch of distributed computing projects you can give away your spare pc power for research use.

if so... what teams are you guys on, and what programs?

I used to do this stuff hardcore back in my super geek *nix days. But now I squander my CPU's extra power to do things like idle :D

i used to fold, but my computer really can't handle that and play a movie simultaneously. when i can afford to build my next box, this will be a devoted folding rig.

Mike's got a secondary machine that's a devoted folding machine...so i figure we might as well start a folding farm next year.

a bunch of machines that fold simultaneously...their sole purpose is to fold. if we end up going that far, however, we're getting a T1...because that would really slow down any conventional broadband connection.

well, I figured I'd just join the anandtech team. yes, it would be cool to have a vvt-i team.. but, we'd pretty much have no chance of making it up the charts. some of these teams have the equivalent of 200 P4 3.2Ghz machines or more.

my poor little athlon would cry for mercy
