Another method for replacing front speakers??

Is there a better way to replace the front speakers then what is suggested on this page? i'm on a lease and i'd kind of like to avoid doign some cutting.. since it's strongly prohibited.... Is there any way to remove them so that they can be replaced later? or are they jsut completely f*****?

also i'mlooking at getting a cheap amp just to give my new rear rockford 6x9s a bit of boost. is something like a kenwood worth buying? or should i even bother? I'm getting soem distortion at higher volumes and once again due to lease, a new HU is pretty much out of the picture.

In my car I drilled out the rivets in the front doors to remove the stock speakers then I installed a pair of Pioneer 6 ¾ speakers with the adaptor that is included with the pair.

Also I am just wondering why you cannot replace the HU because it is on lease? I replace mine using a wiring harness and the mounting bracket, the new HU can be removed at any time and be replaced with the stock radio with out anyone ever knowing.

You're right :) And when you return the car, you leave the aftermarket speakers in the doors, nobody will notice or care...

...OR you can buy cheap 6.5's and put them in the door instead of leaving your Aftermarket Infinity Kappa's in there...

So is there any cutting to be done when putting in the front speakers? lke in the demo on this page? Do you still mount the speakers on the rivited bracket or do you have to get a new one?

Are you talking about the DIY on this site that I wrote? It DOES show a finished install. Are you hoping to see the door panels back in place?

    hahahahaha

Do you need specific instructions on how to use a screwdriver? Do I need to say that clockwise to tighten, counter-clockwise to loosen? Is it really THAT hard to mount a speaker in factory locations? (ok ok I'm just messin)

At the time when I wrote the DIY, very few people have aftermarket Front Speakers. The idea of fabricating an MDF ring to preserve the stock speakers has yet to come. By the time people realized they needed an MDF mounting ring, I already moved to kickpanels (I wrote a DIY on this as well) and NO ONE ever made a DIY for MDF rings.

Alot of people who followed the DIY installed their speakers just fine. And mind you, even if I DO write a revision for the DIYs, I don't think methane (Admin) has the time to edit the DIY, so I never even tried.

But you know what-- You're right. I should HAVE included SPECIFIC INSTALLATION instructions.. Since I post alot in Car Audio Forums, I kinda assumed that ALL people know this part already.. HAHA guess I was wrong. (sorry)

As for your RSVP thing-- sorry for not replying. I didn't even know what RSVP means (in email) Isn't RSVP for parties? I thought you were trying to sell me something, LMAO. Because you listed some prices and stuff. Not to mention that I've been away for awhile because of some serious family issues. Now that I'm back, I can post more. Water under the bridge. Let's move on.

    TO ANSWER YOUR QUESTION

If you really want to preserve your STOCK speakers, this is also what I told akchurchill when he emailed me-- Fabricate an MDF ring and remove the rivets holding the stock speaker. (he DID mention that he has a rivet gun, so that's a PLUS) This should enable you to take the whole speaker in ONE piece without destroying anything. Now, Using the existing holes, mount the MDF ring to the metal. Now mount the speaker to the mounting ring.

Any Questions, please post them here.
