    Angel eye projectors

Hey people. I am getting a set of angel eye projectors installed 2morrow and i just wanted to know if there are any precautions i should be aware of and what kind of bulbs i should get with these headlamps. I heard of getting an HID set up but i dont know if it's really neccessary for everyday driving. Or maybe i can get some Silverstars??? Thanks for any help...

My opinion - Projectors suck. You get better performance out of the OEM headlights.

With aftermarket lights or basically any electrical upgrade, you need to upgrade the wiring. I'm sure with the install they should be replacing the wiring with bigger guage and better harnesses. You should definitely replace the wimpy battery cables with bigger guage and make better body and engine grounds if you haven't already. Make sure you aim them properly (if these are capable) - Not only are projectors illegal in some places, you will get the shaft if you blind an oncoming police officer. If you do get those cheesy burner bulbs (get Silverstars) do not touch them with your bare hands - wear cloth gloves; rubber gloves tend to leave a residue. If you have daytime running lights disable them; this will save your alternator too (ask me how I know).

    Another plug for Vamp's site!

I'm trying to figure out the wiring so I can leave the DRL and the sentry alone and just run some small driving lights (with lower draw) in the day while the headlights will work with the now-useless lightswitch. It will be easier to just put a switch in there.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion and i respect urs n kno where ur comin from with ur statements....but coming from someone who has projectors on his 94 dx, and also at one point in time had 4 tv screens, a 600w amp, an 400rms sub, a ps2, an underbody kit, and interior neon all while running it under one battery and stock alternator and has had his shares of battery and alternator tribulations.....i would say that projectors are an excellent upgrade....because performance wise, they beat oem since oem has somewhat of an opaque finish to the lens and the projectors i bought had a crystal clear lens, plus there is a mirror inside of the projector that covers up half of the projector housing allowing light to travel out the top half of the circular projector housing...this explains the straight line that projector lights draw on the ground where everything above the line is not lit and everything below it is brightly lit....this also explains why projectors are so bright when one equipped with them bounce because that line bounces with the movement of the car of course....about the bulbs comment, you should never touch any bulb for any reason just because the oil of your hands makes the bulb heat up too much makin it go out quicker...since most projectors, especially for corollas, use an H3 bulb, which is usually used as a fog light bulb, of course the bulb will get hotter, and obviously since it is used as a fog light, proves exactly how much brighter they will perform than oem making them equal to if not better than oem....as for wiring, my projectors (and just about everyone else who hasnt been jipped outta a deal) came with the wiring harness already which is literally a plug n play type of thing....(if you bought foglights that used h3 bulbs from walmart or something that you would mount where ever on ur car, what would u have to do....wire it to the battery and switch??....splice a wire to tap into another power source to coordinate when the light will come on??...so since projectors are plug n play, they would be safer wouldnt they not, and nothing makes them any more different than as if u bought fog lights seperately for your car and used them that way right?..especially if ur using the same bulb)....i didnt have projectors on my car when i had all those tvs n stuff on it but even then, my car ran awesome for a year n a half with all that stuff in there....i decided to sell all that stuff because it was starting to become a hassle to deal with and months later...only then did i burn a fuse from when i was messing with the air bag switch and since i had some spare money hangin around, i just replaced my alternator since i knew i would need to neway....couldve been my luck but with all that stuff in my car lasting for such a long time, you guys be the judge of that....as for grounding, i never regrounded nething else in my car, although it wouldve been a great idea with all that stuff in it....i just made sure the grounds for only my system and neons were decent....but if all i had were just the headlights, once again, that wouldve just been precautionary, not necessary, but always a good idea....plus, the battery terminals (for a 93-97 neway) are tiny compared to the really thick aftermarket ones i bought from autozone (you should do this regardless cuz it helps even a bone stock car)....the price is real cheap but you'll never have to work about power blips from an inadequate battery terminal, thats for sure....about the police thing, i dont think you'll have to worry bout that unless you live in california....as long as you adjust them properly (just like you would any other headlight unit), then you should be fine everywhere else...think bout it, mercedes benz, bmw's, etc..all those have HID kits that come stock with the car....in projectors, all you'll have are normal bulbs, not HID bulbs, you can differenciate between HIDs and projectors......and a final word..................about performance.......you guys may know fastrolla96 (you probably wont see much of him here, we're both mainly on vvt-i.net)......he has stock headlights, and i have my projectors and we compared them to each other.....first of all you should kno that fastrolla has aftermarket headlights that are not projectors but allow him to keep his stock bulbs....and then me with my projectors with h3 bulbs...also keep in mind, that fastrolla's lens is also crystal clear, not somewhat opaque like oem headlights.....newayz, we both had our cars next to each other and turned our low beams on....and for the record, i didnt say it....he did..."you're projectors are brighter"....
