    Amp help?

    can someone give me suggestions on what amp to get, i have 1 sony Xplod 12" sub and a Sony Xplod reciever, the sub is not installed yet because i dont have an amp, i was wondering what is the best amp to power this thing, it has 800 MAX watts, and has one terminal i believe its 4 ohms, i need an amp the will make this bump but not so loud it breaks shit off my car, please help

    To tell you the truth, I don't think that sub has the thermal capabilities to "break stuff in your car." But as for as a good amp to go with it, You might as well get a sony amp to finish your system off. There are better amps out there, but for your application, they are not necessary.

    Also MAX power is not as important as you would think it is. The more important number to be looking at is RMS.

    An example:

    Sony XM-2100GTX 2-Channel MOSFET Amplifier

    Featuring 500 watts peak; 250 watts RMS x 1 @ 4 ohms, bridged; 100 watts RMS x 2 @ 4 ohms; 200 watts RMS x 1 @ 2 ohms; MOSFET ower supply and output devices...

    There are more powerful amps out there, but you probably won't need one.
