    AM does not work

    Hi

I just installed JVC KD-SX990 and everthing is fine but the AM radio does not work. So I took it to the professional guy and he tried 5 different models and it can not catch AM signal. He is saying its my car antenna problem. Any suggestion guys?

Try wiring your Stock Deck to the antena cable (the one that is inside of the car) and see if you can get any am radio.

something though doesn't add up...if your getting FM you should be getting AM, you might have a lose connection in your tranceiver connection for the antena.

If you still experience the same problems with your stock deck...bring your car back to toyota, make them repair their mistake.

Do you know if the JVC is supposed to have an internal Am antenna, or does it require an external one. The Corolla only has an Fm antenna - the stock deck has an AM antenna built in, but then so do most decks.

Check to see if you have an "antena" wire on your wire harness, and try connecting that to the HU.

My friend has a JVC deck, i'll give him a call later and see if he has the same problem...

I have a JVC in my 03 Corolla... I do get AM signals but they aren't the greatest.. good enough to get the traffic or weather whenever I need it though.

Well if you really want the the am radio than go for it i guess. I rarely listen to the radio anyway (but that's just my opinion).

i still think that something is fishy, considering that Methane has the same brand of cd player and recieves some signals. But i guess different units have different specs...

Is the new antenna going to be bigger/longer than the stock?

    The Antenna does not work

I had very interesting day, the professional guy test the HU with new antenna before install on the roof. It does not work he tried with different model does not work. So its cleary JVC's fault, so he is going to call JVC and his friends what is the problems.. untill then PEOPLE DO NOT BUY JVC IT SUCKS REAL BAD.

    iTS WORKING

AM radio finally works!!!!!!!!!!!! the professional guy figured it out that antenna wire needed the a little power boosting and am radio sound is clear then stock and FM is even better. I want to give my aplogie to JVC and people who owns JVC about my comment about JVC boycott.

    Congradulation!

What kind of power booster you got?

I am using the Kenwood headunit and the radio reception is better than stock, but still has no comparision with CD nor XM radio. I am wondering if FM power booster could give near CD quality radio sound?

I am no expert but i think FM radio is broadcast at half of CD quality, and AM is broadcast at half of FM. AM is only mono and sounds much worse than FM which is stereo.
