ok guys im confused, now apparently theres 2 kinds of alternators on the 93-97 prizm's. Ones a Delco, others a Denso
Mine had a denso but are these interchangable? and then theres the question of 1.6L vs 1.8L
    another is automatic vs manual
aaaaaaaaaarrrrrhhhhhhhhhhhhh i dont know what to choooseeee

maybe something like that but basically my question is would a 93 prizm alternator work with any and all of them????

yea, just check the size of the engine, (1.6 or 1.8) and pick the corresponding alternator.. it shouldn't matter if it's manual or auto (and for all I know... engine size either but to be safe).

and as I said, I'd choose denso since it's the one that the rollas bring and they last and last and last...

mine had a denso in it form before and..... it didnt last lol
but now as for the engine size, see i need a definite answer at to whether does it matter or not? cause i might get a used one so if i get the wrong one, its worthless

    i ordered the tensioner

well on 1sttoyotaparts.com they have a catalog:

shows only 1 alternator for 93-94 models $143.29

also 1st is a toyota dealership (bob bridge toyota in renton, wa) so you'd most likely get denso at that price.

I checked my 97 wiring diagram and they show no differences between the 1.6L and 1.8L wiring to the alternator.

yea the thing that threw me off was places mentioning 1.6L or 1.8L which made me think maybe theres 2 different ones for the 2 different engines. Ill call those guys up in the morning and verify if it makes a difference or not which im sure they would know, thanks for the help =)

the alternator problems in the 7th gen only existed with the 93-95 (AC Delco). When they switched over to the Nippon Denso alternators for 96-97 the problems stopped. I'm not sure if there were a recall or just a service note on that.

yea mine has a denso one, apparently the previous owner put in a denso one but it still went bad. I just wanna make sure the alternator i get is the right part, meaning it is for my engine.

wow... you better check or replace those cables.... killing alternators like that has to have something else in the wires/fuse box
