just out of curiousity, what exactly would dropping a grand into pistons do performance wise? or is it just prep for more boost and or nitrous?

High compression pistons will give you a little more power..but the best thing would probably be to go low compression and turbo.

Monkeywrenchracing has pistons as well -- big bore kit was $849 last I checked.

I guess no one on the board has bought them? Honestly I'd probably just buy a 4AGZE and convert it to turbo, since it has upgraded internals and it's aready designed for FI.

it's corolla/civic/cavalier people. the folks who tune low-end cars are generally young and poor or just incredibly cheap...and they whine about anything and everything.

Things happen on the audi/vw boards as well. Groupbuys happen, things are made, etc. Yeah, the member numbers are larger, but people stick to their word/commitments.

well..... when some of us are able to build fairly decent cars with very little money... what do you expect?

people like me who go to junkyards and find *decent* parts at prices that should probably be 4-5X higher than it is..... and that being said i sell parts for way cheap as well (whatever i have on hand and people need)....

i mean.... shit, i've built my aw11 for less than most people spend on their turbo setups.....

If I had money to buy things all willy nilly like, I would have bought myself a 240sx and had an SR20 swap done when I was 16. That's not my reality though. Most of the people on this board are poor, or in college or something.

things arent expensive if you blow all your money on it, but when your saving for the future then things seem to be expensive.

$6500 - Low mileage S14 that hasn't already been riced out
    $3200 - S14 SR20 front clip
    $2000 - Labor for swap
    $1200 - Wheels
    $600 - Tires
    $1200 - Coilovers
    $600 - Xenon projector retrofit
    $2500 - System

    $17,800 Total

That's how much I would end up spending on a 240sx, which really isn't that much money in the grand scheme of things, but I figure I'll wait until I graduate and get a job. Then I can build the car the way i really want to.

i've seen s14's way cheaper than that..... what sr20det clip you get determines price.... you can get them around as low as $1800..... actually do the work yourself & learn about the car......
