    Air filter??

I was wondering if I could take the air box out and just put a K&N air filter on the car and what would be the difference. Also would it sound anything like an intake such as the suction sound. Is it possible for it to fit as well. thanks for any advice

You could modify the airbox for a cone filter, if that's what you're saying.

And yes, it would sound like an aftermarket intake. Probably not AS loud, but would definitely be audible, unlike the factory air intake.

Well...on the '03-up Corollas, you could hack the airbox cap off and just put a filter on the MAF sensor air tunnel.

I think the 00-02 Corollas have the same basic design (MAF sensor), in which case it would be the same thing.

The 1998-99 Corollas use MAP sensors....not sure how the airbox is made - I don't think there's the mesh wind tunnel like on the MAF equipped engines.
