    Aftermarket tach install

    I've had a Sunpro tach (2.25"ish in size) for a few months now, and I can't locate a corolla LE cluster (8th gen) to have the stock look. :(
    Basically, I have 2 options:
    1. Can anyone tell me how to wire up the tach I have? Also, where should I mount it? (pics would be fantastic!)
    2. By chance, does anyone have an 8th gen gauge cluster with tach in it? :D

    I think I have the same tach as you on my 01. :D

    Take out the cluster, the singal wire is black, you just need to try it one by one. There is only like 3-4 black wires, you won't miss it.

    Buy a guage cluster with a tach. Swap out the speedometer unit so you can keep your mileage accurate.

    lol, I had a Sunpro tach mounted there as well -- unfortunately it went whack after a while...there's no way it was idling at 100rpm, or hitting the rev limiter at 5500.. :(

    that looks ricey as hell, just get a cluster with tach

    also its obviously purchased in a local auto store like pepboys, autozone, if your gonna get gauges get some Defi gauges, their more accurate i doubt will break down like a sunpro

    Do you know anyone that has a cluster with a tach? I've been searching since last year, and still havent' found one. I've also considered getting a better tach if I can't find a cluster. I'm very anti-rice, but I need a tach in my car. I don't know how I've driven it for a year without one... :superconf

    no problem. if you want to keep the mileage from your current spedometer, then just open it up and swap out the entire spedo thing along with the odometer display. i know some people have done it and i know that there are pics somewhere. im just too lazy to go hunting for them. do some research and dig up the info and youll be set. quite easy from what i hear.
