I've got the Alpine KCA-420i iPod interface adapter on my Alpine unit. Only 100 bucks. Look around your area for some deals. All you need is any iPod.

Honestly, you won't get as fancy of an interface, but get a Creative or Archos MP3 player and a ~$10 RCA-stereo mini cable. Great sound and in the end, you'll spend A LOT less. Plus Creative and Archos make fantastic MP3/4 players.

Agreed. Look at Archos and Creative. Best bang for the buck, IMO.

I have a pioneer changer, got it on craigslist for $10 after the laser on my in-dash pioneer changer crapped out and I couldn't afford a new deck (for my house or for my car). I'm hoping to dump it for a Kenwood KDCx991 one day. That thing has 512MB of built in memory + USB slot for MP3s.

I listen to mostly NPR now. all pod casts.

    I currently listen to:
    Car Talk
    Wait Wait Don't Tell me
    Skeptics Guide to the Universe
    NPR Technologies
    NPR Your Health
    Real Time with Bill Maher

And since this is all talk radio, it doesn't make me want to drive fast. I also usually drive with the windows down and the volume high so even when a cop sees my car and gets close, when they hear that i'm listening to talk radio, they just drive away. Its good for my health and brain. hehe

I had a pioneer XM add on but later sold it because I don't spend enough time in my car to make it worth the monthly fee. Now I'm thinking about buying the external receiver so I can move it between my house and car.

They better not. Competition between companies is healthy. Monopolies simply suck. Look at Microsoft and the monopoly lawsuits.

    I had a nice MP3 deck in my car - Lanzar VBD1900

I was very happy with it, plus it was a dual face which looked amazing at night, but little harder to read folded during day time.
