AEM Bypass Valve for CAI question - ???

Ok, so my AEM CAI came today. I have to wait a few days to install, as I am not allowed to work on my car in my apt complex, and my friend who has a garage and is going to assist is out of town. So I'm looking through the instructions and it shows a picture of the intake installed, and another with a bypass valve installed - which is recommended and I will definitely do - as this is south FL and it rains a lot here in summer.

What I don't understand is - where they show the bypass valve installed (just past the MAF hole) - there is absolutely no opening in the intake tubing. How the hell would a bypass valve work there? Do you have to cut the damn intake? The instructions are incredibly thorough everywhere else - on this part it just says "install a bypass valve." Helpful huh?

So, help me out - how the hell can you install a valve on a solid piece of aluminum tubing?

the bypass valve works like a silicone coupler, you place it between two pipes, if you dont have 2 pipes, you must cut one in half. Also install it before the MAF becaust it essentially is just a filter

could you just attach the filter itself to the bypass valve? it may be tricky-but im sure its do-able.

if the pipe isn't two piece you will need to cut it. but install it first. and find the best sutible spot for the bypass.
