You mean lift it out by hand??? You will need an engine hoist and an engine stand (you can get them as one tool).

Yes you can lift it out with the tranny attached. Basically, drain all fluids, disconnect all wiring (label EVERYTHING), remove wheels and halfshafts, unbolt all engine and tranny mounts, and pull it out the top. Oh yeah, remove the hood as well before you start. There are a couple other things, like throttle cable, shifting linkage, etc, but just take it slow and you'll be fine.

If you are just doing an MTX swap then you should be able to do it from underneath, you don't even have to mess with the engine at all.

    about lifting out the engine

Its not really too hard to lift out the engine is it? What is necessary to do it? I mean if I were to take the engine out to either install a manual tranny... for whatever stupid reason i would decide to do so lol. Or to do a complete engine overhaul. These engines arent too heavy are they? Also, I can take the engine and tranny out as one complete unit right? and then doesnt the driveaxle disconnect from the tranny? Im just curious about a lot of this stuff.

actually the motor weighs a lot. it all adds up. it can be deceiving when you look at it.

engine hoist is the best way.
