A little project on a sunday afternoon.

So my stock driver seat been taking up space in my room for almost a year now and my neighbor decided to throw out a worn medium size office chair. I spent some time cutting two strips of metal and welding it together and..

No idea how that black stain got there, it was like that when i got the car.

My crappy attempt at Mig welding.. looks horrible but good penetration.

    Cost: <$10
    Time: 2hrs
Function: Perfectly.. I was worried the seat would be too heavy but it wasn't.. The hydralic height adjuster was still able to push the chair up. And since I welded the strips of metal to the stock sliders I am able to balance the center of gravity between the front and back by sliding it back and forth.. Also all adjustments were built into the base so I can tilt and all that good stuff. And yes I can still bolt the seat back into the car if needed.

Nice! My advisor in school who is the auto shop teacher has seats taken out of cars and has them converted into desks. My god they are soo comfortable than the damn regular desks. Only downside is that everyone starts to fall asleep lmao.

Yea most of the shops I go to have this done with Recaros. I've been using it to play N4S.. I found the perfect balance so I can lean all the way back or sit at the edge without the thing tipping over. And no it does not sit like a high chair, it's the perfect base.

One thing I do wish I did differently is use box metal strips, the strips I use are too thin making the chair kinda bouncy like it is sitting on leafsprings.

I'd like to do that too, but probably with a race style seat or something, but more power to ya.
