basically the only thing that you would be changing is the head going from not vvt-i to vvt-i
but you would also have to change the harness on anything new that you put in.. the harness is spisific for that engine, and ECU set up...
like for instance the 03+ corollas are not compatable (without changing plugs) to teh Celica ECU with VVT-i.
why not go for a turbo system or something? more gains and actually not that much more expensive..

hey denver rolla what do you mean stick with the stock engine and put a turbo system on it or go with the celica engine. how much difference would i feel adding a turbo setup to the stock 1zzfe would it put alot of strain on it. thanks for the reply

the celica 1zz is no different if you already have vvt-i if im not mistaken. The intake manifold and exhuast manifold are different but thats all i believe.

i have a chance to swap my 1zzfe with a turbo celica ingine for 1500 + 2500 for labor and inter coller. the only thing is there gunna have to change mounts and harness to make the celica engine fit. i started considering buying the same engine since my 1zzfe is blown and adding pistons and a cam plus a turbo but man i know that adding the turbo 2zz would be alot more fun. im new to riceing and man theres so many options out tere so i would like your guys strong opinions

He won't be able to do it... read the top of the post. It's a 99.

To swap out a 1ZZ from a Celica into a 98 or 99 series Corolla, you have to replace the wiring harness and the ECU along with the motor. It'll bolt in just fine, but the electronics are all different. (Doc you've seen what goes into this putting that VVT-i motor into a 99)

I'd suggest build out the existing non-vvt-i motor and then turbo (well duh, since i have a turbo'd 99, lol) but that's just me.

nope - and its very hard to find turbo stuff for a 99 --- don't buy a "kit" from anyone other than Dr Tweak (if/when) his comes out. otherwise go custom and I can help you there... every other avenue has shown nothing but trouble for those who have tried them. (ie kits)

If you want a breakdown of my setup, just pm me.
