Engine 98-02 TRD exhaust core diameter?

98-02 TRD exhaust core diameter?

Does anyone know the core diamter of the 98-02 TRD Corolla exhaust. The inlet is 2.25", but the outlet pipe looks to be at least 2.5" if not larger. I'm wondering if the outlet pipe reflects the size of the core and if the inlet can be cut and enlarged so that I can retain the TRD muffler for my turbo system (2.5 piping).

Hm, I don't know specifically. The terminology used is ID and OD. Inside diameter and outsite diameter. Ok, so the pipe that mates to your existing exhaust is 2.25"? Correct? It's most likely 2.25 ID. Then you'd need to go from a 2.25 ID at the muffler to a 2.5 ID at the exhaust pipe towwards the engine.
Without actually looking at the muffler I'm guessing that the exahust pipe that is welded into the muffler on the input end would need to be cut off and replaced with a 2.5 ID pipe. Now how will that match up with the inner chamber? I don't know.

Or you could just cut it down to about 2" coming out of the muffler and use a reducer to reduce your size from 2.5 to 2.25 ID. You would be constricting a bit at that point.

My guess is either take the whole input pipe out and replace it with a 2.5 ID pipe as long as the internal structure of the muffler isn't prohibiting flow. Hopefully it will open up into the chamber and allow a 2.5" pipe in there. Or get a new muffler with a 2.5" ID input.

the outlet pipe is 2.5 but the problem is that as Statik said, is a bit a smaller. On your case since you have the turbo if you can get a full 2 3/4 exhaust it suppose to be best while not making much noise and have full potential and not overdoing it.From the front all the way to the back.
