    91 camaro RS

i was browsing through the local paper and i noticed a 91 RS camaro for about $3995, looking at the VIN, the car has a 5.0 V8, and the mileage is not mentioned-would it be worth checking out? im really looking for something like this-is there anything i should be aware of even b/f considering this? p.s. i havent determined whether its auto or manual yet-ya know-with that much torque-i dont think it matters much..

do NOT pay $4k for a 91 camaro. that 5.0L V8 is one of the weakest v8s in the GM lineup of the last 20 years. right around 200hp or less in a 3200lb car. Unless that thing has a lot of work done, or rediculously low mileage, it's a ripoff and a half. You could get a 97 camaro for that. I'll give a 98% chance that it's auto. I've seen ONE manual f-body from that generation.

just FYI - blue book on that with the v8 and auto, with only 100k miles (damn low for a 14 yr old car) and most options (pw,pl, t-tops, cassette, auto, etc.) in EXCELLENT condition (new paint etc...) is only $3,100.

darn- well thanks for the heads up... its funny- the reviews didnt mention anything about it being slow-b/c there is a V6 version runnin 140 horsepower, this 5.0 version is runnin 170 but with 255 lbs. ft. of torque- i wouldve thought that that would have been plenty for power/weight ratio-but your right about the price-it is kinda high- thanks for all the input lowrolla!

5.0 with 255 lbs is a 5.0 carbed HO, the one in the RS is fuel injected and runs 17's.

All the ones I've seen haven't been that impressive performance wise, so I thought the RS was just a trim package for the V6 Camaro. Was the V8 in the RS the same one as in the Z28 of that gen?

350 tpi are real quick. 305's are kinda weak for a v8. I reccomend looking for a newer camaro with a 350, but if you wanna stick with 3rd gen get a 350

no all the z28's in that gen had carbs I believe. I wish I had the site that listed all the engines that came out with the 3rd gens. Even the z28's aren't that fast. But the 5.0 was really slow, my friennd had one when we were both 16. I could take him off the line in my 91 geo prism to about 50 mph then he would slowly walk by.

3rd gens are the best looking imo so i would say go for it. But at the same time there also the most recognized redneck camaro. Don't be surprised if people seem shocked you don't have a mullet (unless you do) and not listening to van halen as you drive.

LMAO! thats funny man! and NO i dont have a mullet-and dont wish to associate myself with the redneck crowd either-its just that im lookin around for the best bang for the buck ya know? but after considering this=im startin to realize that this is going to more of a pain in the ass=my 4afe right now gets close to 30mpg, whereas this beast sucks up close to 12mpg-thats a huge difference-not to mention-how long will the transmission last? after all-it IS A CHEVY!

my personal favorite is the 25th anniversary.. my brother had a 5.7L camaro .. it was an Iroc-Z .. he did a few things to it and it was nice... but towards 100k miles... broke down, stalled constantly.. old camaro's are crappy imo.. dont get one and save your money or else you will end up putting 20,000$ into the pos.

yep, your most likely right pred-thats why i changed my mind-i mean-my rolla only has 104k miles on it-and that means the car has barely broken in, so im just gonna keep takin care of it till this thing stops runnin..
