    89 corolla gt-s Question

Hi i'm new, and i just have a couple of questions.
I'm wondering first off whats my engine code?
i know have a couple of mods on my car b4 i bought it.. I have a lightened flywheel, new headers, shorts shifter and a full exhaust system.. i know this sounds very newbie to you but i admit i know nothing about cars..

another question is, if i were to get intake which 1 would suit my car best??

Last question is Off topic but, are there any local forums for vancouver people?

it's better to refer to your motor as a bigport...... there are 2 versions of the redtop, and people get confused

pros of bigport: it has the TVIS system on it... has 8 runners on the intake, 2 per cylinder. at lower rpm's there are butterfly valves that hold one runner per cylinder closed, and at (4500?) they open up.... this allows for a bit more torque.

the very early 3 rib blocks obviously aren't as strong as the 7 rib blocks..... which they changed sometime between 87 and 88..... however, all bigport 4age's use the same lower compression pistons. (i believe 9.3:1 or something like that... pretty low for an n/a motor).

smallport.... of the 16V's this is the motor i would get. In fact, out of the n/a motors, this is the one i would want to own in the states. 20V parts are just too difficult. The head actually has smaller intake ports on it (exhaust are the same size as the bigport). They got rid of the t-vis. Higher compression (10.3:1). Some say the n/a's came with oil squirters.... i'm not 100% sure on this. The cams have smaller lift and duration than the bigport as well. That all being said, it's hp/torque is smoother and higher than a bigport.
