Hey I called Toyota and the XRS Strut bar cost $681 and the TRD cost $174
Why does the XRS strut bar cost so much???

yea..I think the dampener on the strut makes the xrs strut so much...

dude its a bar, I know a shop that you can get your chassis seam welded for that much (provided you remove the interior.)

true, isn't a strut bar supposed to be ridgid? That strut dilly dosen't do sh!t, also dosen't help that there are multiple bends by the brake master cylinder.

Stupid design i would say. That shock thingy is just there to up it's value but it does absolutely nothing for the car. its like a gun with blank bullets.

It to add some stability, but keep it's soft ride and handling. Not made for all out performance in the twisties.

my cuz and I welded some steel, grinded it and painted it with gunmetal high heat paint and some sheetmetal work in my other friends garage we made a pretty nice front and rear strut bars.for $60 for the metal, and we dont care about the labor price bcoz we just did it for fun. I tested it but it gave me a huge amount of understeer and it felt like a go kart then I took it off after that, because I wont be going to Yosemite Natl park which is a nice place to feel some Gforces

Actually the strut bar is made by hotchkis, and it is very rigid. Don't have any thing to do in the structural integrity of the Strutbar. The only reason that it has those bolts in it is so you can get to your strut towers with out taking off the whole thing. But there is a little flex in the bar. Which if you really look at suspension set ups you want a little give. You want your car to flex a little bit not alot just a little. If its too stiff you start putting to much stress on your other suspension components. Also if you look at where the motor mounts are, you'll see that they are attached to the strut towers. You need a little flex up top or you'll have to much engine vibration and noise. Toyota Did a good job planning out the Strut tower bar. They know what they are doing. Its not for show. Toyota isn't about pretending.

If its anything I learned from my 2yrs of autoXing, anything made by hotchkis would snap in half sooner or later.

Pssshh.. I sold my XRS strut tower bar for $80. Theres no way I'd ask that much for it. When you remove it, its pretty heavy and extremely flexible at the pivots.

I installed a TRD bar on my XRS, I Have Hotchkis and Tein suspension stuff done and will have C-ONE parts installed soonish as well. I want the car very rigid.
