    5 Speed for AE10x

Does anbydoy have a list of the transmissions that bolt into the 93-97 Corolla's? I know thers the C50 and C52, and that the C52 is suppose to be a little stronger.

Also, if possible, do you guys know if the axles from an automatic (3 speed) will fit in each 5 speed tranny that bolts up?

    From Corolla Performance (http://www.corollaperformance.com/Mods/Drivetrain/Index.html:(

    "... 4 transaxle options: C50 5-speed manual, C52 5-speed manual, A131L 3-speed automatic, and A245E 4-speed automatic.

The manual transaxle is a compact, two-piece, lightweight aluminum alloy housing containing both the transmission and differential assemblies. The C50 and C52 manual transaxles are essentially the same. Both are carried over from previous Corolla designs. The C50 is used with the 4A-FE engines while the C52 is used with the 7A-FE engines. The reason for this (I believe) is because the C52 has stronger input and output shafts with larger diameter bearings on some of the gears and updated synchros. The C52 also has a different first-gear ratio (with all the other gear ratios being the same). In addition, it has starter mounting bosses on both sides of the bellhousing (good after you have melted several starters mounted on the exhaust side of the engine). As you can probably tell, the C52 is the better one. As an extra bit of information, in the past, C50s typically came with 4A-GEs with a smaller diameter clutch than later (87+) 4A-GEs that came with C52s."

I don't know about the axle question. I wouldn't think they would be different, though.

i would highly doubt the inboard axles are the same between the auto and the manuals...... however, c50 and c52 (all variants) share inboard axle shafts

so I would be better off to just buy new axles if I get a c52 (along with new mounts of course)? What tranny are your unning toyotaspeed90?

Also, do the auto and 5 speed share the same mounts (so we don't have to go start custom making mounts)... i'll be replacing the mounts anyways, just wondering if they will be in the same locations...

Im going to go visit my local dealership and see if the part numbers are different for the mounts and axles and other misc. parts that shouldnt be auto/manual specific, just so there are no surprises..

like i said...... i'm 99.99% sure the axles aren't the same..... the mounts should be the same.... if not, they'll be close enough

the mr2 i'm using an e51 from a supercharged mr2 (have a spare c5X from the mr2... but it has mr2 linkages on it of course)

the corolla i'm not sure.... i asked the shop (got a new transmission before i did my own work) for a C52 from a GTS... however my gearing is taller than an ae92 gts, so i'm guessing it's a c52 from a 7afe..... IMO it's too tall..... 1st is around 35mph or so, 2nd ends at 70mph, then third is all the way up at 108mph and haven't found the end of 4th or 5th yet (obviously)....
