a distributor rotor is mechanically linked to your engine's crankshaft (one way or another)..

basically, if you see a rotor and 5 wires, you have a distributor..

what year of car is it?

4age with a 4afe cap and rotor instead of coil pack...

In order for the system to work with the stock ECU can you setup the 4age to run a afe cap and rotor instead of the coil pack and crank sensor that it normally uses? Or can you just use the 4age coil and sensor with the 4afe ecu? Just trying to figure it out for the swap... |)

find a 4age dizzy that has 24 lower teeth and 4 upper teeth (both cogs are inside of the distributor) and that will work with the 4afe ecu...... it'll be easier to use a bigport 4age cap & rotor, then run an aftermarket (ie, blaster 2) or the corolla gts coil.... only other thing you need to do is extend cables for the 4afe ignitor..... if you can figure out how to keep it cool and not blow, let me know.... i still have this issue (and currently have a stripped 4afe dizzy hidden in my dash..... if the 4afe ignitor was meant to be in the dizzy and was meant to cool off there, then that's where it'll stay....)

also.... i'm guessing he was thinking coilpack since he's probably used to the internal coil that the FE heads use...... the 4agze in japan (ae92 and ae101) used a DLI setup with coilpacks and cam angle sensor where the dizzy was.....
