4AGE Smallport... i believe it was redtop... but the tops are easy to switch/paint... so dont rely on that when choosing one... just look for 4AGE Smallport

BTW, the 4AGE smallport seems to have from 127 to 134hp depending on year/location they are from... and approx. 105 ft-lb of torque... also a 7700rpm redline...

i think 4A-GEC is the red top like teevee247 said its a small port and the other one 4A-GEU is the blue top if i remember correctly

^^^ yeah, some say 3, some say 5..... & both bigports are 9.4:1... i'm thinking of my friends isuzu 1.6 which is 90% identical to a bigport (even has a similar t-vis setup) and is 9.8:1

    wow.... lots of misinformation here

    bigport "bluetop" 4age:
    85-87'ish
    5 rib block
    9.8:1 compression
    112hp
    t-vis

    bigport "redtop":
    7 rib block
    9.8:1 compression
115hp (change in HP was due to an afm change and slightly different injectors... that's all)
    t-vis

    smallport "redtop"
7 rib block (with oil squirters)
    10.3:1 compression
130hp (uses high ohm, larger injectors)
    lack of t-vis

smallport has slightly milder cams as well...... the power curve on the smallport is less peaky than the bigports.....

the best ways to tell the smallport is basically by looking for the oil drain back hole in the back of the head (near #4 cylinder).... bigports do NOT have this.... also, whether it says T-VIS on the intake manifold is sometimes a dead giveaway (however, many ae86 guys buy adapters for the smallports and need to use the bigport intake manifold that has t-vis still stamped on it....) the smallport intake manifold isn't smooth like the bigports and has ribs going across the manifold.

also, fuel pressure is slightly higher on the smallports fuel rail (if it has the original fuel pressure regulator)

    nice of you to contribute....

my engine, the one listed above...... 3 rib block as opposed to late model 7 rib, and 9.4 to 1 compression ratio

3 rib block (dirty old model found in the ae86) 7 rib block (clean.... latemodel a series)
