    3speed auto tranny question(s)...

at what point a well working tranny shifts gears?
    mine goes like... 2nd @ 20mph and 3rd @ 40~45mph...
    is this alright?
I hear the engine revving up a lot to get to those shift points >.>

it would be better for it to shift 2nd at about 10~13mph and 3rd at about 30mph...

(hey! I'm used to the tercel!)

if everything I say = "omg, how it's still working!" kinda transmission...
what kinda stuffed is messed up X_x?

I'm not sure either with mine that's why I wanted to get a tach, maybe that would help show me where it shifts.

well.. with only 3 speeds it has to spread them out pretty far over the rev range. hence the 4 speed autos in newer corollas and 5 speed autos in some cars.

rev happy < Optimal < too busy shifting

depending on how hard you step on it, I have a 3spd auto, I have a cluster with a tachometer, and it shifts on a normal acceleration anywhere from 2500 to 3000, and at around 3000 it will start to get loud......the shift points in terms of speed you said are correct.....

you only have 3spd auto, have you ever heard it scream once you get on the highway? at about 130km/h you are sitting at about 4000 rpms exactly, shes screamin

I figured it out, first gear is 0-30, second gear 30-50, third gear 50-up. I ran my car and heared it shift at those intervals.

In my 94 3 Speed Auto. here are the shift points when flooring it...

    1st to 2nd @ 65~67 km/h (40~42mph)
    2nd to 3rd @ 115~120 km/h (71~74mph) (or 135 km/h when holding the gear) (84mph)
    3rd gear until 182~184 km/h (112~114mph)

I should add that I love the second gear in my 94 from 80 to 135km/h... surprised so many people with it, hell, it used to be faster from 80 to 135kmh then my old Civic Si 5 Speed...
