if you're not afraid of the cops, go with the 3s-gte. the 3s-gte definitely has more torque and power than the 2zz. trade-off is that you'll be getting someting like 20/26 mpg. the 2zz-ge i believe is possible but not as powerful as the 3s-gte.
one motor you can go with is the ae111 20v 4a-ge. should be easiest swap out of the rest. it's also 6 speed tranny. and ITB's!!!

I think is like 180 or something like that for the 4age, the 4agze will give you LOTS of power since it's S/C. I'd say go with a 3sgte swap, that'll be something good. I was eventually going to do that on my 98 Corolla but wasn't able to come up with enough funds.

Took that from a thread posted on VVt-i.net which can be found here: http://vvt-i.net/forum/showthread.php?t=4673. There are a ton of threads on this subject on this board and at that one, so just search around.

You watch too much Initial D I guess. :p
The best 4age we can get is the 20v black top which is round 160hp or so.

But the law says you can't swap a engine which is older than your current one in your car. Oh well, lots of mod aren't street legel anyway so I guess no one really care.

Yeah, I think 4agze is better.

4age by itself isn't worth the money IMO, unless you're going to do some more mods to it. I think the highest rated one has 160hp, but many people say that power output feels overrated.

I'm guessing you have a 7th gen corolla right? If that's the case yes go with those two. I was gonna do a 3sgte swap in my 8th gen dude, it would've been nice as hell but lots of coin. Just be prepared for a few things here and there you know, always have extra parts and defenetly bank.

    Hello,

As far as a swap.............3S-GTE all the way. We stuck one in our 98 back in 1998 and it was the best think we could have done. Its not an easy swap like the 4a and 2zz, but patiants will pay off.

Oh, I was thinking you had a 96. If you have a 98, neither the 4agze or the 3SGTE would be a direct swap, so the only factors really are how much money you want to spend and how much power you want to make.

As you said, you could always try a turbo on the stock motor, or build the stock motor to handle more boost.

ELP? WHA???? Where the hell have you been?
