Yes it can be done. It has been done as a matter of fact.

MR2 turbo, and Celica All-trac. I don't believe it ever came in a Camry. Put's out (depending on year) at minimal 200hp. Also used in the Toyota Supra's that race in the JGTC, for it's lightness and ability to put out 500hp.

Well, I'm wrapping up a 2ZZGE swap into a '98 right now (which yes, does have the 1ZZFE).

After doing this, I can say with a degree of certainty that a 3SGTE swap would not be much more difficult. The 2ZZGE needed 3 out of the 4 engine mounts to be modified, custom exhaust manifold and exhaust, custom axles, and lots of other little items, not to mention the usual wiring difficulties. The 3SGTE would need the same things, adding the intercooler and piping, turbo fitment, blah blah blah.

I'd do it, for a lot less than 10 Gs as well, but I'm a bit of a drive!

Thank you JDLangevin. I was finding it hard to believe that the production Corolla had the 3S-GTE stock from factory. I believe you are right about the rules. I remember reading about the FIA changing some of the WRC rules to allow more manufacturers to compete in WRC. One of the rules they removed was the obligation to sell the 5000 production car models in order to compete in WRC. If you take a look for example at the Ford and Peugeot website, you don't see any AWD 2.0L Turbocharged cars for sale. But, people like Fensport can make your AWD 3S-GTE powered Corolla dream come true. Hehe.

Correct me if i'm wrong though.

No, I don't think it was, at least it never had the 3SGTE. Toyota started using the Corolla WRC in the WRC right after they changed the rules so that the car didn't have to actually be a production car.

I could be wrong though, do you have any links or anything showing when/where/how many were actually built for the public?

A total of 57 Toyota Corolla WRC cars left the TTE workshops between 1997 and 1999. Among these 33 were used by the works team while the other 24 were sold to private teams

technically it wasn't a Production car.. i was incorrect. however, it was available for sale to the general public (with deep enough pockets lol)

i'm gonna assume an E150 from a turbo mr2 has the same tranny mounts as an E51 from a supercharged mr2....... the mounts are almost the same, and can actually be bolted to the transmission....... one mount (intake side of tranny) needs to be slightly modified - 2 holes redrilled..... then it will fit into a C series setup...... this has been proven with many E58 swaps into AE series corolla's that have a 4agze...... then, the only mount needing to be moved is the motormount.... this also has been a non-modified mount in an AW11 (which shares A series mounts).... the big deal people say is that it will cause an imbalance in the setup..... however, there's a guy running a mk1.5 mr2 with all stock mount locations and has been doing so for over 2 years w/o problems......
