this thread always seems to find it's way to the top. haha....after a few ppl have posted, you'll likely see everyone telling you not to do it because it's too much of a hassle and to just go with the 4a-ge/turbo/supercharger, or whatever. hahahahahha....more power to ya for tryin somethin new/difficult/etc.

i've posted this several times, because honestly, i think it is one fo the absolute most useful links regarding toyota engines in general i've seen:

    http://www.geocities.com/MotorCity/....html#MZ-series

It's missing some info, but it's got plenty regarding the S-series specs.

for any other info, try google.

Because the problem is you would have to fabricate the mounting points for the engine. The mounting points that are already on the car won't go with the engine. Not to mention all the other extra stuff you would need to install as well.

well that depends on what yr car u have.

yeah, A is much easier in a pre-98, but it's kinda hard to get a ton of power out of an A-series (yes, i realize it's possible, but it requires a lot of work) So then, i'd go with a S.

the ZZ however is kinda unproven, and there are some ppl making over 500 hp out of these guys. so if u have a 98-present corolla, i'd stick with teh ZZ since it is a much more technologically advanced engine. not to mention the mounting hardships you would encounter

Hmmm.... I got 98... but ok its more advanced but the 3s-gte is like the best isnt it? But I dunno. My whole problem is I got a 3 speed... it sucks when it comes to speed. But I dunno what to do. I gotta go check something out around here. Oh and why is it so difficult to do a 3s-gte into a 98->?

If you're going to do a motor swap, you might as well go ahead and get rid of the automatic. Alot of JDM engines come with the tranny attached anyway, so just be sure to get one that has a manual.

I dunno what Im doing yet. I cant just swap the tranny unless I get new engine. But if I would go turbo or something Id have to stick to the auto (parents wont let me switch me back like that). So I dunno, it doesnt look good for me, seems like Im gonna have to stick to the car like it is and only do exterior stuff or dont do anything at all.

ELP had it swapped into a Corolla as well... Dunno the status of it, but there are pics of it around somewhere... Go search google and you can find alot more info on the engine, specs, etc etc... Keep in mind the swap itself is a MINIMUM of $10k...

Ok screw it lmao. With a 3speed auto, would it be able to handle boost and do good? My tranny was repaired and I think made stronger (atleast it feels stronger) so would that make it stronger for more boost?

Well, you could put an auto tranny on the 3S-GTE. I've seen it done before. Not personally. But I doubt your auto tranny would bolt up to the 3S-GTE.

Nah but thing is if I get 3s-gte (which I doubt) I would get it manual.

if u look at the pics of the 3sgte in the ELP car, it's such a tight fit! But if u have the money, it'd be a great engine in teh corolla!

    http://www.jarcoinc.com/inventory/

    they've currently got 2 3sgte's with 5spd tranny in for 2495. ;)

If you're going to import a clip, I would recommend Jarco as well. I haven't heard anything bad from them.

Well these numbers are to high for me so I guess Ill have to either stick stock or turbo and see if I can get a tranny swap... could a 3spd hold turbo?

if u do it yourself, u can easily get it for less. 10k is what Toysport charges for the swap.

a guy named harry i think on the old vvti had a 5sgte hybrid swap into his AE92 for really cheap cuz his dad and him did the swap themselves, i haven't seen him on the new board though.

well do u or any friends have much experience with swaps? cuz i'm sure u could do it for 4k or less, prolly around 3k-3.3k. that's if u do the swap yourself/with friends.

    i wouldn't trust a 3spd holiding much boost. I'd say 5lbs tops. but i may be wrong.
