you could always buy a car that has been in a bad accident, (rear ended preferably) and take the engine out and scrap the rest of the car. sometimes you can find them for like 2000-3000bux on ebay. or the website i referred to is usually good.

Eh. It's OK. 160hp from a 2.4L engine isn't that great. The 2ZZ would be more powerful, has VVTL-i, and gets better mileage.

i think he meant does the tranny from the 1zz 5-speed bolt to the 2zz. i don t think the torque bands are the same between the 2 , this could bring up performance issues. definitly go with the tranny meant for the 2zz , this way you know the gearing is corredt for the torque band.

I've asked Dr. Tweak about it, and he said the bellhousing is different. You'd have to modify it to fit. I'd just get the 6-speed that goes with the 2ZZ if I was doing the swap (wishes he was doing swap...).

Get a 2007 Scion TC motor if you can.

The HP looks the same, because of the new HP rating that had been applied to all cars 07+ that takes away roughly 6-10% HP from the spec sheet. The new rating is supposedly more accurate.

The 2.4L motor from 07's have more HP, Torque, and better engine enhancements from the 06 scion tc.

Also, the TC is a 15.3-16.0 car depending on the car. The engine produces so much torque that even on a 2900 lbs car, you won't be able to launch it, because you will have no traction.

Saying that, with the motor swap into a corolla (assuming it fits), with about 400-500 lbs lighter and if you get LSD and put on some slicks. You will hit 13's for sure (also assuming you have traction).

In addition, I also feel that if you just get the 6-speed tranny and mod your engine to become a replica of a celica gt, it'd be pretty fast.

To be honest, I've never been a fan of the 2zz-ge. K20's way better than a 2zz. The lift on a 2zz is really strong, once it kicks in, but it's not enough to do anything amazing.

Look at the differences between a Celica GT and a GTS.

    GT:
-5 speed tranny (long gear ratios)
    -140 hp
    -125 trq
    -Mid 15's car

    GTS:
-6 speed tranny (short gear ratios)
    -180 hp
    -130
    -Low 15's car

The GTS has 2 huge advantages: 40 more hp and a short gear ratio tranny

BUT, WTF why is it only .5 seconds faster??? Any other car with those two advantages are at least 1-1.5 seconds faster.

Conclustion, GTS motor is too expensive and weak to put that much money and time into. If you want to do a motor swap, it's cheaper and faster to go turbo, or with a motor that works.

    Thank you,

I agree with the 2ZZ not being a very good investment. The 2.4L TC motor would be a good candidate but... its too big to fit and... its still a camry motor. I would say go with proven power. Swap in a 4AG and force feed it. Or you can just force feed the stock 1ZZFE. It would cost less than an expensive swap. But imo, I wouldn't do anything else to the car. It's a corolla. I'd save up my money and buy something else.

    Go check out newcelica.org, I think GTS run mid-low 14, not 15.
And where did you find those numbers? car magazine?

i am in india a corolla is what i can afford and here its considered a luxury car
we dont get any performance oriented cars in india we ve got to import them paying 120% dutys
no evo no imperza no celica the corolla costs 5 times than the chepest car available

a majority of the modded cars here are the honda citys with the 100hp stock motor
    the corolla is pretty fast
the cars that we get here are also a lil detuned at times for the inferior fuel we get

Shubert, I once remembered a 14's 1zzfe corolla that had some internal engine modifcation. I read up on it a long time ago when I still had a corolla. He wanted to ready it up for turbo, but had timed it to see how the modifications had effected his car.

He had installed low compression pistons, increased his cylinder size to 2.0L, some head work, and added some electronic controllers. These things will quicken up your corolla faster than putting in a 2zz. I'm not saying install low compression pistons, but engine work will do.

Something bothers me though, you mentioned that in your country the fuel is lower quality. That makes it extremely hard to go high compression N/A, or Turbo. If that is the case, "there's no replacement for displacement." ;)
