25 Reasons to be a Democrat

    :p

    1. Drug addiction is a disease that should be treated with compassion and understanding...unless the addict is a Conservative talk show host.

    2. The United States should be subservient to the United Nations. Our highest authority is not God and the U.S. Constitution, but a collective of tinpot dictators (and their appeasers) and the U.N. charter.

    3. Government should relax drug laws regardless of the potential for abuse, but should pass new and unConstitutional anti-gun laws because of the potential for abuse.

    4. Calls for increased security after a terrorist attack are "political opportunism," but calls for more gun control after a criminal's spree killing is "a logical solution."

    5. "It Takes a Village" means everything you want it to mean...except creeping socialist government involvement in the nuclear family.

    6. Disarming innocent, law-abiding citizens helps protect them from evil, lawless terrorists and other thugs.

    7. Slowly killing an unborn innocent by tearing it apart limb from limb is good. Slowly killing an innocent disabled woman by starving her to death is good. Quickly killing terrorists, convicted murderers and rapists is BAD.

    8. Every religion should be respected and promoted in public schools the name of diversity, so long as that religion isn't Christianity.

    9. The best way to support our troops is to criticize their every move. This will let them know they're thought of often.

    10. Sexual harassment, groping and drug use are degenerate if you're the governor of California, but it's okay if you're the President of the United States.

    11. Sex education should be required so that teens can make informed choices about sex, but gun education should be banned because it will turn those same teens into maniacal mass-murderers.

    12. Minorities are blameless for the hatred of the racist; women are blameless for the hatred of the rapist; but America is entirely at fault for the hatred of Islamofascists.

    13. Poverty is the cause of all terrorism...which is why the leaders of al Qaeda are typically U.S.-educated and were raised in wealth and luxury.

    14. The Patriot Act is a horrific compromise of Constitutional rights, but anti-Second Amendment laws and Franklin Roosevelt's Presidential Order 9066 must be regarded "reasonable precautions."

    15. We should unquestioningly honor the wishes of our age-old allies, even when said allies no longer act like our allies and have vested economic interests in propping up our enemies.

    16. Socialized medicine is the ideal. Nevermind all those people who spend every dime they have to get to the United States so they can get quality medical care...that their nation's socialized medical community can't provide.

    17. Michael Moore, Noam Chomsky and Natalie Maines are perfectly qualified to criticize our leadership, but Arnold Schwarzenegger, Charlton Heston, and Dennis Miller are just ignorant political hacks.

    18. John Lott's research on how gun ownership reduces crime is junk science, but Michael Bellesiles is still an authority on why gun control is good (even though he was forced to resign from Emory due to research misconduct over his book "Arming America").

    19. Bush's toppling the Saddam regime was a "diversion," but Clinton's lobbing a couple of cruise missiles at Iraq in the thick of the Lewinsky sex scandal was "sending a message."

    20. A president who lies under oath is okay, but a president who references sixteen words from an allies' intelligence report should be dragged through the streets naked.

    21. Government should limit itself to the powers named in the Constitution, which include banning Second Amendment rights and shopping the courts for judges sympathetic to causes that wouldn't pass in any legislature.

    22. "The People" in the First Amendment means The People; "the People" in the Fourth Amendment means The People; "the People" in the Ninth Amendment means The People; "the People" in the Tenth Amendment means The People; but "the People" in the Second Amendment (ratified in 1791) means the National Guard (created by an Act of Congress in 1903).

    23. You support a woman's "right to choose" to kill her unborn child, but don't believe that same woman is competent enough to homeschool the children she bears.

    24. Proven draft-dodging is irrelevant, but baseless claims of AWOL status is crucial to national security.

    25. Threatening to boycott Dr. Laura's and Rush Limbaugh's advertisers is exercising Freedom of Speech, but threatening to boycott CBS's "The Reagans" and Liberal actors over their asinine anti-American remarks is censorship and McCarthyist blacklisting.

It's a little hypocrtitical when Limbaugh is known to bash those who have a drug history on his syndicated radio show, yet he is later found to be guilty of having a drug problem himself. Where's the fairness in that?
Nobody said subservient; just don't completely make unilateral decisions that ignore the U.N.'s purpose.
If what you're trying isn't working, it only makes sense to try something else. In each of these cases, the current status of the law isn't working, so there are ideas to proposed to make marijuana legal and, yes, to also restrict gun usage. If you refuse to change, you may pass up an opportunity to make society better.
Nothing wrong about increased security. Invading a country not at all associated with the terrorist attack was the problem.
Disarming innocent law-abiding citizens may or may not be a by product of atteming to get guns out of the hands of those evil, lawless terrorists and other thugs.
The child that a 16 year old girl aborts would probably have a horrible life, as it's mother isn't ready to take care of it, and it may not have a father around. In any case, I'm going to play on white America's greatest fear. If your sister was raped by someone of another race, would you want her to have the baby? Probably not. That's a choice that should be available, regardless of your personal decisions. As far as capital punishment, we don't have the right to say who should die for what crime. If you're Christian, that's taking God's job away from him.
Blatantly not true. The situation is actually the opposite. Christanity cannot be the only religion to be recognized in schools, because this country has no official religion and not everyone is Christian. I'm a Christian, but I don't believe it's right to infringe on the rights of others.
Where does the notion of "supporting the troops" come from? Nobody has anything against the troops in Iraq. It's the reason the troops are there that causes controversy.
It's understandable to be concerned about your loved one who may be in the armed services, but if you were really concerned about their safety and well being, why would you be fighting to keep them at war?
If Clinton had done that before he in office he wouldn't have been elected.
The problem is that California elected the Terminator to office already knowing his history of sexual harassment, yet they had the balls to call Clinton's actions an outrage. What a contradiction.
Unless you live in Texas, guns are not an integral part of human reproduction.
A recipient of racism or sexual assualt doesn't project those thoughts into the head of the aggressor. Therefore, yes, Americans are responsible for any hatred they harbor.
The key word you used is leader. Does everyone in the US go to Harvard? No. Just the same, not everyone associated with a particular group has the highest level of education or wealth. The leaders of these groups emerged because of their access to education and capital to fund their activities. Most of people who follow the leaders are probably poor.
Invading the personal privacy of every American is a huge step. If it was a Democrat who suggested the government have full access to your medical records and be able to search your computer at will, conservatives would have been up in arms.
Just like we should continue to unquestioningly honor the 2nd amendment, even when it is outdated and no longer relevant to our modern society, right?

What's wrong with making sure every American has healthcare? I really don't see any problems with that idea. Think it would be too expensive? Maybe if we decreased our record defense spending and Bush cut back on his record number of vacation days, we'd be able to afford it.
Conservatives tend to be unrelenting in their beliefs, as witnessed by Charlton Heston's words about Al Gore at the 2000 NRA convention. Democrat's are usually open to compromise. Micheal Moore is just our version of doing what republicans have done for years, spinning the story.
Bush's diversion has prevented him from doing much else so far during his two terms. Can't say the same for Clinton.
President's lie all the time, Dems and Republicans included. Clinton just got caught. It was about his personal life, so give it a break. Bush's lies have caused deaths of innocent people.
Yeah, cause overturning Roe v. Wade is "sticking to the powers named in the Constitution."
You're beating this one to death. You must REALLY like guns.
Who said home schooling should be banned? Your kid will turn out to be an awkward sob with no social interaction, but do what you want.
First of all, they're not baseless. Second of all, this guy who went AWOL seems all too happy to send other people's kids to the fire.
If I remember correctly, "The Reagans" was going to present Reagan in an ultra idealized fashion, making some people critisize it. I'm sure if there was a Clinton mini-series that threatened to do something similar there would be complaints.

So what about the marijuana laws are NOT working?

Where did the statement include anything overseas?

    That makes absolutely NO SENSE.

Ah...so youre not taking Gods job away from him by having an abortion, but you are when your killing a convicted criminal? That is SO hypocritical. We dont have the right to say who should die for what crime, but we have the right to say what unborn child should die? Im not disagreeing with you on the abortion aspect....I am very Pro choice, especially in rape cases. But I am also very pro-capital punishment.

    I agree.

Dont make a general comment like that, because many people dont support the war, OR the troops for being over there, regardless of whether or not they have a choice or not. Albeit, every single person fighting that war VOLUNTEERED. Anyone that joins any armed forces has to know that they face the possibility of going to war, regardless of whether or not they agree with it.

We expect our politicians to set a good example while in office. Everyone makes mistakes, but doing something like that in office??? Like Commando, if Clinton had done that years and years ago, it wouldnt have mattered. Most elected presidents have had skeletons in their closet.

Are you trying to be funny here? Education on any subject will lead to more educated choices.

I dont understand what youre getting at here.

How does the government keeping an eye on what you borrow from the library actually affect your life? Seriously. In this day and age, having a little leeway is the least an American can do. If you want to be protected, ya have to give a little. The same person that whines and bitches and moans about the Patriot Act will also complain out the wazoo that the government didnt do enough to prevent the next attack. And you didnt even touch on Executive Order 9066, which would be like the government not allowing anyone of Middle Eastern decent anywhere on the entire East Coast....

The right of a person to keep and bear arms is outdated and no longer relevant to modern society? Please explain this to me. Of all times, the present is the most dangerous, and anyone should have the right to protect themselves.

Theres no such thing as a free lunch. Europe is running into hard times with socialized healthcare. If something is free, one will consume more of it than they would have when they were paying for it. Overusing limited resources will drive up the overall price of healthcare. And yes, another stab at the Iraqi War. For some reason, that comes up in all of your arguments.

No, all Democrats and Republicans alike tend to be unrelenting in their beliefs, as witnessed by Ninety Fours words about Bush, Republicans, Iraqi War, Abortion, etc etc etc on www.vvt-i.net

You obviously only keep up with news that has to do with the Iraq War situation, because you have totally missed everything else that Bush has done so far in his term.

Bush hasnt lied. Obviously somewhere along the line, the information that he was given was wrong. Yeah, the information that reaches his desk comes straight from the source, directly to the president without going through hundreds of people verifying the information....yeah...right.....the CIA says they didnt give him that information, and they dont lie, right?

Once again, you dont actually address the comment, and instead spin it into another direction. Kerry was a master at this. Lets not forget that Roe switched stances, and changed to PRO LIFE, and is fighting to make abortion ILLEGAL. Most states wouldnt make an abortion illegal anyways. Overturning Roe vs Wade doesnt have anything to do with the Constitution....it has to do with the Supreme Courts stance....we'll see what happens now that Roberts is involved.
And who cares if Roe vs Wade is actually overturned? Some states are already currently PRO LIFE even with the current status of Roe vs Wade, and in those states, abortion clinics are rare. If its overturned, the number of abortion clinics wont decrease at all in the US.
Quoted from a website I pulled up: Of the 21 states the Center for Reproductive Rights claims are most likely to ban abortion after Roe, seven have Democratic governors. These governors would not be able to preside over new post-Roe abortion bans without risking a party revolt. Of the other 14 states, one (Rhode Island) votes consistently Democratic in presidential races. Though not all Democrats support abortion, it's unlikely that the 60% of Rhode Island voters who chose Sen. John Kerry last fall would be inspired to support a ban.

And he has every right to do so, because like your capital punishment/abortion rights argument, you favor one group, but not another. Its not a matter of "liking guns"....its a right. A constitutional right! I could say you beat the Iraqi situation to death..

What a cocky and way off based comment. Most homeschool because of the concern with the public school system environment. The second highest reason was religion and moral based. Do some research...a homeschooled child outscores a public school goer in ALL SUBJECTS by up to 40%. Its your right to choose whether or not to kill a child, but youre a retard if you homeschool your child? Shame on the family that keeps their child homeschooled, and praise those that send their child to a public school at 630 am, get home at 330pm as a latchkey child, and spend only an hour or two a day with their parents.

First of all, lets not forget anyone in the military VOLUNTEERED. Secondly, you seem to support Clinton. Lets not forget HE was a draft dodger. And please show me where it has been proven that Bush went "AWOL", considering his unit was never sent to Vietnam. And Kerrys post war actions cant really be considered "honorable" or even "American"

A very high majority consider Reagan as one of the greatest presidents to have been in office. Im sure if they planned to put Clinton in a ultra idealized fashion, it wouldnt be a problem.
