    20V silvertop problem

i drove my car home one night it ran perfect...the next morning i started it and it fouled out all my spark plugs and the engine is running so rich that the exhaust is belchin fuel out...the redline on this engine is 7800 and now only revs to about 4500 and takes forever to get there. at idle it kinda seems like its missin but its not. and it idles really low also??? i was thinkin the fmu is bad because if it is, then the engine doesnt know how much air is flowin through and is sendin in way too much fuel, or i need to buy an aftermarket fuel pressure regulator to stop so much fuel from entering.???but i could be wrong. help please

    Just a possible lead

    Hey JDM,

I had a very similar occurence with a friend's Z24 Cavalier. He just started belching tons of black smoke from the exhaust, the car ran super rough and didn't want to rev. And, it all occured just suddenly. It didn't gradually come on, it just happened. The cure? He had a loose vacuum line going into the intake somewhere. Sorry I can't be more definite, I had merely suggested to his mechanic that he probably had an air leak somewhere that was playing havoc with a sensor. And that's what it was. There was a loose hose that had come off of his intake system somewhere.

By the way, this particular hose had gotten knocked loose while his mechanic was changing the plug wires.
