i haven't seen the wiseco bore kit, though there pistons require a bore. I think darton had some sleeves awhile back but I haven't heard anything else on it. The most comprehensive place to get internals for a 1zz-fe/2zz-ge would be www.monkeywrenchracing.com

You also got to put into thought is tuning. If you have the car tuned right, you won't have issues. I think Wiseco sells pistons for 1ZZ-FE.

yea....don't get advice from people that don't have the car........ask the people in the forums that have done the stuff to their car...and like it was stated...if it is tuned correctly, then you won't have a problem, however there are limits, like there are in everything

    2004 Corolla Engine Internals Mods

I've been told from a bunch of guys in a WRX club that I know, that in order to turbo my new corolla and make it stable, I am going to have to redo a lot of the internals of my engine seeing as they are all alluminum, and may not be able to handle long periods of boost.

Are there mods I can do to the engine besides the normal lame CAIs and stuff that everyone is doing? I want to seriously take the Corolla up to around 200HP before I mod it? I know it will be really pricey, but hey it'll be worth it if I can have the fastest Corolla in Alabama. :)

Thanks in advance for the input,

    Paolino.

yep you just won't be able to turn up the boost to 20 psi like them on stock internals

Wiseco got pistons, rods, even a big bore kit. You can turbo it on stock internals but will be running about 5 PSI of boost.

hmm... there are ups and downs to both iron and aluminum blocks. the iron will hold more cylinder pressures, but won't dissipate heat as well. the aluminum on the other hand dissipates heat better, but won't hold that high cylinder pressures (blatant generalization). with an iron block, you'll be able to hold higher pressures but have an increase chance of knock. with aluminum, you will have cooler cylinder temps (less knock) but lower pressures (more blatant generalizations).

a set stronger internals are in order for high boost applications. there are a couple of kinds of rods you will want to look at. one is the forged variety and the other is the billet variant. here's a link comparing the construction of standard forged h beam rods with the billet rods made by oliver racing products: http://www.mentaladdictionmotorspor...3dfea/3dfea.htm it's a bit heavy on the technical jargon, but it has some very cool info. if your going for a street machine, billet might be overkill, but it's nice to have excess imo.

as for pistons, you gotta find a good compression to go with. 8 or 8.5:1 is usually best for turbo applications. that'll give you enough compression to get going b4 boost, and a low enough compression to keep ping away. personally, i'm not a big je fan. i've had bad experiences with their product. wiseco is a good company along with arias among others.

well i'm gonna cut it short. most people don't even read my longer posts. i rarely ever get a response or reply. :(

I agree. 8.5 should be enough for boost. A thicker head gasket should help out as well correct?

some one at www.2003corolla.org has over 200Hp at the wheal with the trd supercharger, unichip and other upgrades. If i remember right he's still got stock internals

checkout matrixowners.com. they've got a lot of experience with turbos.
