I've never actually done it myself, but I'd think that you could either take them off and do it, or tape off everything else and spray it while its still on the car... either way, it'd probably be a pain... I'd reccomend that you go ahead and pick up some spare emblems... I'm thinking spray paint... any other members want to chime in on this one?... I don't want to steer him in the wrong direction!

Shaving the emblems off the trunk isn't all that hard... in my case I used fishing line, a hair dryer (b/c i don't have a heat gun), goo gone (or other adhesive remover), car polish, and car wax. The whole process took about an hour with the majority of the time being spent polishing and waxing the areas where the emblems were removed. BTW... I took my time with that, so you can probably get it done in about 30-45 minutes.

Anyhoo, what I did was I used the hair dryer to heat the area where the emblem(s) were, then I went under the area with the fishing line (kinda like flossing your teeth... same concept). You may have to stop and repeat the process for some of the longer/larger emblems, but I had my gf (at the time) hold the hair dryer so it wasn't too bad. After I removed the emblems, I used the adheisve remover to remove any excess glue (b/c there will be caked on glue). From there I washed my trunk (because I believe that that crap has some abrasives in it), the proceeded to polish and was the areas in question. You car ends up looking much cleaner in the end.
