@ all of you guys: since i want my car to have a turbo'd engine and y'all dont seem to have problems with y'alls 1zz engines, Q: will a 1zz engine fit easily in my engine bay? and what mods did y'all do to be able to do 7-13psi as daily drivers? thanks =____=

p.s. idk if this is the right place to be asking these questions but since this thread is where 1zz people are then i guess this would be a good place to be asking my questions... =__=

You may want to ask Dr Tweak about engine swaps, since he's the expert on that. As for mods, most of us just installed the turbo setup and ran with it. The engine is fine for low boost daily driving if tuned properly.

I assume your FX has the SOHC engine (4A-C)? Personally - I would stick with another A series engine. Lot less headache fitment wise and you'll probably be abel to find a decently priced engine somewhere.

Why not make it a FX-16, the DOHC variants, with the 4A-GE engine. Already a proven engine with lots of power potential and turboing it would be easier with the exhaust manifold up front instead of being against the firewall.

Hell - if you were willing to go to the trouble of swapping in a 1ZZ-Fe - why stop there. Could go with a 2ZZ-GE and make a killer N/A motor, or drop in a 3S-GTE and kill just about anything stock out there.

You are right, i have a 4A engine. im looking for a black/silvertop atm... will that handle 8-13psi on stock internals? ill still probably get the engine rebuilt before i drop it in my rolla then turbo it. being safe dosent hurt right?

anyone have good sources for engines?

I would beef them up before I run that kind of boost. That being said - I've seen post off guys run 15-21PSI boost on a stock bottom end - not sure how long that lasted. If you want to be safe - switch in the low compression pistons and rods from a 4AGZE or even go with a 4AGZE to start. The 20V variants (Silvertop - AFM based, can handle boost, Blacktop - MAP based, lighter internals for 200RPM more - better for N/A app) - people like then for boosting - not sure why, when the 4AGZE is better right off the bat. You don't even need to keep the blower - just slap on a turbo instead and tune it carefully - would get great numbers from that engine.

I've heard good feedback from Venus Auto (http://www.venus-auto.com/), but that was several years ago - not sure how they are now. Lots of people like eBay - but you got to be careful.

I'd find someone to help you swap in a 4A-GE from an Ae86 GTS corolla. Put some HKS goodies in there and get an adaptor plate for the blacktop throttle bodies, and you've got a mean, high-revving, and reliable N/A motor. Only problem would be making the car RWD if it isn't already! (RWD= teh sex).

okay, so correct me if i'm wrong:
so you suggest 4AGZE + turbo + good Tune = 8-13psi daily driver?

i found this site while i was window-web-shopping for an engine. does anyone know if this is a good source?

I believe the 4AGZE was already at 7-8PSI with the stock supercharger - lots of people are running an upgraded pulley for 10-14PSI boost on a stock engine. Seems a bit extreme for me (14PSI atleast) - I would atleast upgrade the fuel pump and injectors to make sure it is getting enough gas - but guys have run it daily and say it is fine.

As for the link and sources - Asian Auto Spares is in Australia - might be tough to follow up on from the states. Better to get it from a local importer - that way you have someone to complain too if there is a problem.

Just don't wire your emanage wrong an retard the timing a bit and you should be good up to 12psi from what I have been reading. But try 12psi on a bad tune with incorrectly wired emanage and your piston rods will turn in to crow bars ripping your block apart, I experienced this unfortunatly :(

    is y'all or y'alls even a word??

on the other hand, if you have a fx the best swap is the 4agze. nice engine with a long list of mods that be done.
