Engine 1zzfe running too rich

    1zzfe running too rich

    Hi,

    I removed the spark plugs and the tip is like white, i read some site, and they are saying this is due to engine is running too rich. what is wrong?

    are you using iridium plugs like you're supposed to?

    yep, using iridium plugs, got them from toyota. They ran for about 4000k km and they turned white. No air intake, stock airbox

    it is normal .....if it was running rich it would be black

    from what i know, cars with direct coil ignition systems should always use iridium spark plugs. i think the 98-99 spec 1zz-fe doesn't use direct coil. refer to your owner's manual.

    also the car makes the motor run rich to cool it off if you've been hard on it

    hey what year is your 1zzfe because im pretty sure that im not runnin iridium plugs but i do have an intake and my tips are black on my 98 1zzfe should i be running iridium plugs

    white plugs are a sign of running to lean , not rich . means youre plug is too hot for the application , ask for a cooler plug . plugs when are wore correctly , have a brownish gray tint . running too lean over a long period of time will effect an engine. with high octane , 9mm wires , cold air and a quick escape , lean cylinders will start scortching pistons.

    are they sooty black or brownish black? if there brownish black there normal , your fine. if theyre sooty black , then your not getting efficient burn in the cylinder and it can leave greasy lookin deposits on the plug if this is more like it , you need hotter plugs.

    yes , im not saying not to use them , just if there white get a cooler plug , if cruddy black , get hotter ones.

    sooty black yeah i will get some iriduim plugs then i have a new tranny on the way as well as a tranny cooler and i'll bee porting my manifold while im waiting on them to get here... so i might as well grab the plugs how bow wires anyone know of a good site that has spark plug wires for a 98 corolla
