More details from Spyderchat.com regarding the 1ZZFE engine. It appears that the technical paper is the same.

yeah, I have that paper. There is some really good info in there, alot of it is hard to make sense of, but over time you'll understand it. It's just really technical.

Looks to me like they put in a lot of effort to make this engine do what they wanted, and I guess they acheived it. But in the porcess they made a VERY untunable engine. It is now the LOWEST hp rated engine in the cars in its class. Well mabey not the lowest, but for the size of engine it should be performing better than it is. And mods cost too much. I think this will single handedly get the tuners out of the rolla, and the old men back into them. They wanted a younger crowd driving them, and they had it. At leastr on this forum they did. Not most of us are getting out of them for different reasons. My main reason was the tuning potential was not there. Otherwise I would have kept it longer. Now I find my Turbo Audi performs MUCh better, and I could buy more than 10 of them for the same price as the rolla!
