    1zz cams

hey over at monkey wrench racing they have a set of crower cams for the 1zz that are susposed to be complete drop in with no machining. Has anyone here ever used these cams and if so were they worth it? I was considering buying some stage 1's, but i do plan on going turbo in the future would it hurt to change to a stage 1 cam and turbo it later, they do have a stage 2 FI cam for forced induction, but im just wondering if the stage 1 would be ok, i figure it would since the stock cams work ok with turbo but im just askin.

ppl on newcelica.org said not worth it. It will give you some gain on topend, but you will lose a lot at lowend.
Try to search "crower cams" there and you should see some topics about it. :)

heres another question, i know the crower cams for the 1zz were made with the celica in mind which as far as i know all have vvt-i, well i have a 1zz non vvt-i would the cams be the same or would they screw up on a non vvt-i?

I haven't checked this out myself, but apparently crower no longer makes cams for the 1zz because they were horrible. People were losing HP by having them. Monkey racing might have some, but every one I've talked to that has had them has hated them from day one.

For 400 bucks, I'd definitely consider something else. :)

yeah those cams have been out for like a year and a half... total crap, hence why they are discontinued.
