was it shifting smoothly before? did this happen gradually or within a week's worth of time or something? also how many miles do you have on your car?

    1997 Toyota wont shift (automatic)

when pressing on the brake to shift from park to any gear; where could my issue begin?

It will shift by using the override switch and drive but it has become kind of a issue to do the extra step. Can anyone help the issue at hand???

    thank you

theres a relay in the back of the car near the brake lights, the relay went out on my 94 corolla, and wouldnt let me put the car in drive or anything else, the only way I could put the car in gear would be by pressing the button near the shifter down while at the same time moving the shifter....Took me a while to find the problem.....but its a easy fix...
