no difference right now, i have the stock air box, which had to be modified a little, stock on an 04 is a little bigger. so piping is smaller at a point if that makes sence. Also i still have the stock exaust stuff on. I think once this is all swapped out it will make a nice change..

also I think the trd supercharger might fit too. Toyoda just doesnt want to mention it for the reason of the bad engine in the 01/02... at least for the manuals. well that and i dont know if there is enough room in the front.

2zz is a lot more money and time.

Have you found an intake to fit? I have the one from my 01 which doesnt fit any more. The throttle body is a lot bigger. So i bought one for an 03+ but it idles really ruff.

$2,600. That includes rental car, labor, engine and shipping the engine. And it took about a week for the place to do it. They had to modify the top of the radiator and intake, which took some time i guess. I will try and get pics of that.
yeah, I found some deals like that, but i went to a toyota certified place and they warranty the work for 1 year.

The local speed shop told me $500 for the swap but i was just a little nervous.. I didnt want them to mess anything up and have to argue with them to fix it, and their not accredited by anyone. If they did due a shizzy job i couldnt go to the better business bureau or what ever the machanics one in utah is called.

But thats a good deal, i take it you were happy with it?

i dunno about 01/02 but i know for sure the 97 and below models are very clunky/notchy. i have an 03 manual and i have to say that it's the first toyota manual that i've driven that is not notchy/clunky BUT... they are still not as good as honda manuals. i've driven a lot of honda manuals and they are just excellent.

Ah your in Salt lake.. where at?

Im not sure what your asking?? If your asking if the motors suck, then yes and no.. I have a friend with a 01 corolla and she hasnt had any problems, hers is auto. If your asking if the stick sucks then I guess it does but not so much for the tranny itself but for the location and the length. Im tall so I have to put my seat all the way back and that makes for a long reach, when i get a short shifter, its going to be that much longer. Its clunky but not bad. I do agree that the Honda stick is smoother.. but toyota has the auto tranny locked down... if that matters.

If you get a corolla, get a stick... way better. Engines computer is more compatible to later stuff, or so i beleive.. Dont run it to hard. Keep it under 4k RPMs and you "shouldnt" have a problem. But I took extremly good care of mine and it still threw a rod. It started burning through oil early, around 40k miles. My new 04 engine hasnt had any problems so far but it only has about 10k miles on it.

i realized what you were talking about half way through my novel... I had a 95 Corolla and i loved it the engine was a tad noise but if I'd known about seafoam bck then i bet that would have cleared up all the problems with noise.. The cars engine was perfect though 7a-fe i think was the motors name?? I want another.
