maybe its leaking from the bottom? near the oil pan? you can check for burning by punching tbe throttle really hard at high rpms. If you see blue smoke then youre burning. but since you said youre not i would check for leaks near the oil pan.

    1/4 every 300km is a lot man.
Are you sure it's not burning oil? Maybe there is oil leak somewhere.
What's the mileage on your 01?

01 corolla @ 90000km, i just changed to synthetic 5w30, would synthetic cleaned off the engine and values and got burned off?

I also noticed this happened to my 98 corolla as well, its missing oil too.

Also from the dip stick, which side should i be looking at?

    Thanks

Sounds like it could be a result of switching to synthetic at a higher mileage. Has it just been doing it since you switched?

I have noticed the last two oil changes in my 98(110k miles) that I've put in 4 quarts the previous change and only 3 drains out.

i checked and i don't see any leaks, I just topped up oil level to full, and the oil dropped half in the dip stick for approx 600km.

I checked the exhast and I dont see any black smoke or white smokes. so its probably not burning.

    Please help.

    Thanks

dude that is strange.... I put normal 5w-30 on the 98 I had till the car hit like 90k and then I switched to high mileage synthetic and it never did anything of this sort..... man this keeps going through my mind on what it could be...

it could be internal leak due to switching from regular mineral oil to synthetic. Seal in the engine might be leaking.

it is hard for you to find the internal leak. if there is no oil leak from the engine to outside, then it most likely to be burn from the engine.

i hate to be the barer of bad news but alot of these cars have issues with the oil control rings getting stuck due to insufficient oil flow and clogged drains through the piston skirt

Yeah, ive heard of many 1ZZ Corolla's eating oil without any outwards signs of leakage or burning.
My moms 2AZ solara consumes probably 1/3 qt. per oil change, but thats because she doesn't take care of it or change oil often at all.

I had a high oil consumption problem with my 01. It could be that the valve cover seal is leaking. Pull your spark plugs out. If any of them are oily/wet the valve cover seal is the culprit.

I checked the oil level again today, used 1.4L of Mobile1 5w30 synthetic in 866km

If this is a leak, its a big leak right? I should be able to see a leak. Also if its burning that much oil, I should see it in the exhast tip as well.

    Thanks

I had the same problem with my 1zz Matrix. I run Mobil1 synthetic. I found it was slowly leaking from the rubber ring on the oil filler cap. The rubber ring needs replaced occasionally. Give that a checking out. Cuase I took off the black plastic engine cover. And seen some oil coming from the oil filler cap area. So, I have some extra rubber rings now. If you do your own oil changes the dealer has them cheap.

It's the filler cap, not filter cap. OK when you put oil in your engine the black plastic round thing with threads on it. It screws onto the top of the engine. When you unscrew it off of the engine flip, black plastic oil filler cap over. You will see a rubber ring on there.

i took out the spark plug today, and the electrode is white, I thought it should be kinda a burning brown. What is wrong? Could this cause my oil issue?

    Thanks

Well, turns out my valve cover gasket was leaking some oil into my spark plugs. I changed it a couple weeks ago, so I'll see if it made a difference.

1st question-do you run it hard? 1zz are known for burning really rich
Also get under the car. 1zz is also known for really bad oil pan gaskets. I know mine leaks all over the place.
